Today is a Harvest Day celebration district-level held at my village. The events starts at 8AM beginning with traditional sports and opening ceremony inaugurated by the YB. Then followed by Traditional Cooking Contest, 'Sugandoi' and 'Unduk Ngadau'.

The Harvest Festival district-level is usually held earlier, before 30 & 31 May to choose the winners to represent our district to compete in the state level that will normally will be held at KDCA.

Info

Harvest festival usually held on 30 & 31 May every days. The festival been celebrated by the Kadazandusun and Murut ethnic but now all races in Sabah especially also celebrate together.

Why it been celebrate?

The Ka’amatan (harvest) festival is celebrated as a thanksgiving in honour of Bambaazon (the rice spirit) for a good harvest by the Kadazandusun and Murut communities in Sabah.

The highlight event during Harvest Festival is usually the "Unduk Ngadau". I don't know why but for myself I do enjoying see the beautiful participants. They will be judged for the Traditional outfits, the Q&A, and the personality. Usually the winner will represent Sabah and promote the culture of Kadazandusun to the world.

The winner Unduk Ngadau represents Kota Belud 2018
