"How to make money on the Internet?" /s

Australians, man, I tell you...

So I got to share this story I recently read, though it was out for some time already..

On April 9th, CNN tech reported that the biggest Black Lives Matter Facebook page - which had already garnered almost 600k plus followers at the time, was fake.. Whats worse, not only was it not owned by the BLM group, it was run by a Middle Aged White Man... all the way from Australia.

Now I have know for quite some time now that Australians are known for a few things, being able to come up with unthinkably brilliant ideas, calling their mates "cunt", and being excellent online Shitposters. But this... this stunt not only cemented the Australian Shitposter stereotype in me but transcended what it means to troll on the web.

According to investigations done by CNN, "the [fake] group had raised around $100,000 that they were aware of ... at least some of which was directed to bank accounts registered in Australia." Now i don't know what to say to donors wanting to support an American movement seeing they about to donate money to an Australian account.

Now, as a bystander on the issue of racism (I have yet to be a victim of racism despite being a minority where I am from). I can't say I feel for the movement. Only being curiously entertained by the acts of the man behind this stunt and how he managed to make money from the most unlikeliest source. To date, I haven't seen any legal accusations of scam against him. That man is Ian Mackay, Vice President of Australia's Nation Union of Workers, which only makes this all the more hilarious.

Anyone would expect this man to be some "basement troll" with "no life" but holy smokes look at that title he has. Of course, he has quit after being caught with this hoohaa. I honestly thought he would have been fired but nope, managed to quit with dignity.

$100,000 is no small number. That money can set anyone up for a comfortable life in a cabin in the woods, or in this case, the outback. And never in a million years I thought something like this is possible with the internet. Now it goes without saying I don't condone scamming people off the internet. But it goes to show that nothing is impossible.

There's already a million ways to make money on the internet, 70% of which is legitimate if not entirely illegal (now illegal isnt "bad", owning Bitcoin was considered illegal in many places not too long ago and it may still be now). Anyone aspiring to live the "digital nomad" life really can do it if only they put in the hard work and some capacity to think out of the box.

Which is kinda the point I wanna talk about after going a whole roundabout. Take whatever you can from this rambling.

P.S. I expressly declare that i do not condone nor encourage fraud and scamming. the news piece is only to highlight the sheer creativity people have when it comes to making some unethical bucks. There's plenty of ways to make legit money online. do those instead.

Now the digital revolution allows us in many ways to earn money, probably the easiest way illegal is probably the easiest, that's why I see the proliferation of accounts ( in the case of steemit) that seek to steal your profits, however there are very good projects where you can earn money cleanly, only depends on what you want to do with yourself, a person of good or bad?? if you're looking to earn money cleanly, just put a little love and commitment into what you do, especially for those people who find it hard to work outside the home! a pc and a good internet connection can give you the opportunity to improve your income cleanly, we wouldn't have thought of that a few years ago. Thanks for the information, happy day.

Forgive my mistakes with the English, I use translator

Evil things always come easy.. its true in real world, its true in the internet. But it up to us what code do we choose to live in life. I rather make money slowly than let my conscience eat at me in the future.

You are right to say that love and commitment is important if we want to do something that is upright. and it will last a long time too! rather than quick dirty bucks.

And yes.. a laptop with internet nowadays is so so enough to set us up for success. In fact, just a smartphone is enough with today's technology. making money without being tethered to a single location. I'm all for being physically free to do my work wherever i want to. Not being limited to being paid with the money of a single country. Which is really what Steemit let us do!!

Your English is great! No need to apologize!

Now we have the opportunity to diversify our income, diversify our economy, it will make us independent, free and happy, as long as we choose the path of good, thank you for your kind answer.

You're welcome!

Only if I know how to earn those unethical bucks.
