Mexico sets world record of installing 18,990 solar panels in a single day!

Wow. Just wow.

This video about a solar farm being built in Mexico, is currently trending on Facebook.

The goal - To install 2.3 million solar panels on this flat piece of land by years end.

Current progress - looks something like this.

Pretty amazing. Isn't it?

Here are 3 reasons why I think so.

1) This project is massive!

Just to give you some context...

Once completed, this single project (754 MW) shall produce almost 2X of renewable energy of what our entire country does (Malaysia) as of the date of this writing.

I love big numbers whenever it comes to renewable energy.

We definitely need more.

2) 18,990 solar panels installed in a single day.

When I read this, my mind was blown!

I take my hats off to Enel Green Power, the Italian based energy developer. Your execution is not only setting a new standard for the world. You are showing them what is possible.

Preparing the land.

Proper demarcation.

I can see how the implementation can move fast.
The layout is well planned and workflow looks so orderly.
Looks like Jinko Solar Panels is being used here. They must be happy.

Malaysian installers can learn a lot from their example.

Then again, are there enough solar power orders in Malaysia to nurture quality contractors?

One of the challenges faced by installers is to keep costs low and the cheapest workforce is usually selected.

3) Path in the right direction.

Large players do play a crucial role in creating a cleaner grid. But we really do not have enough of them. That is why I welcome news like these all the time.

In terms of solar electricity, we produce globally about 358 billion kWh each year.
But we consume a lot more than that; globally about 20,000 trillion kWh each year.

Thus in order to achieve a future of 100% renewable energy for the world, we cannot just rely on the large players. We also need to encourage everyone including you & me, to contribute renewable energy from generating some by installing some solar panels of our own at home.

Question is...

Would you?

Hi, my name is Jason aka @buzz.lightyear. I envision a future where renewable energy is our main source of electricity in this lifetime; reducing the largest contributor of carbon emissions by 90% and bringing our global temperatures back to its natural balance.

I believe that this is no easy task but it is achievable with your support.

I am developing EMPOWER, the first cryptocurrency and open blockchain that incentivises both producers and consumers of renewable energy. I'm looking to collaborate with brilliant minds who share this vision so that we can create a future where it just makes sense to go 100% renewable, visit your local store, buy some latest tech and generate energy for your own use and for others.

We need more record like this one !

Incredible stuff, really. Let's hope to see more of this worldwide. The recent improvements in China with so called "organic" solar panels will certainly help for installations. (https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-45132427)

These should be far easier to install, as they are lighter, less likely to get damaged and expected to also be cheaper once they are able to ramp up production.

Exciting times.
