DSES: Decentralised Sustainable EcoSystem - Getting Help from the Real via "Charitable Investments"?steemCreated with Sketch.

Hello again World!

(My apologies for the Robotic Greetings again haha)

You have noticed this account has suddenly gone cold as I have been really tied up in the Real World dealing with Real Life issues that is never easy in life - family and illnesses.

And that is why I am still adamant to keep writing in hope that this will bring more light, discussions and ideas to work together as a whole, helping one another when trial comes, instead on only pointing out faults and expecting the responsible person to just take responsible and fix it .

But what if the impended party is not doing anything? Do we "jump ship"?

This is regarding the recent upsetting news that I have received about certain issues about the sustainability of the #steem blockchain, and what @ned had announced in his YouTube.

I personally admit I need to re-read the entire white paper again, but so far, how have everyone seen Steemit's performance as a whole?

Despite of the flag wars , the abuses of certain "services" (that usually caused the flag wars to happen) and the reality hits in where being a digital nomad and earning crypto and party all day and night is still very far fetched (to some), does the strength of a community unity outweighs the "doom and gloom" crypto price Steem and SBD are suffering?

Human are very practical, and many who are still struggling to put the bread on the table, to many, they are looking at Steemit as if it is "a money tree that has unlimited supply of fruit that can be changed to the fiat they need".

Let's face it. It is actually true because many still do not understand its value / have been isolated from community experience for too long, will never be able to see this as a potential ecosystem, and will ALWAYS look at it as a "one way conversion".

This is particularly very true for those who does not have enough to make ends meet, or those who has risked more than than they should for the sake of ROI.

The love (greed) of money will always be a great fall for any ideal technology

Be it any crypto, and Steemit will not be excluded in this.

They will either earn and drop (sell off) or earn and HODL .

This however, will not help the Steem ecosystem, it will probably break it; because if the crypto is not being used, it is not being valued; and when it is not being valued, what's the point of keeping it?

I am not saying that people should not HODL at all, we should. I personally am HODLing in many ways not because I am primarily hoping for the price to go up again (everyone hopes that will come true), but more of keeping the whole chain alive and so that the Steemit blockchain make sense for people both for content creators in the real world application in the future.

That the witnesses are not supporting this chain in vain.

I personally may not know how much it cost to sustain a full node, but I personally know that it is not easy. #teammalaysia's @bitrocker2020 has given us a glimpse on how hard it is when his side of the server suddenly breaks down and unable to catch up with the rest of the block. The pain of holding at least a tiny part of it so that the ecosystem dream can continue.

So how do we keep convince ourselves of Steem Blockchain still matters ?

I am definitely not saying that I have the solution; but I am thinking out loud: can we keep the Steem Blockchain meaningful through "charitable investments" ?

First we got to ask ourselves:

  1. Why are we writing here?
  2. When we have the author rewards, what's next?

As the whole idea of adapting crypto expenditure for practical things are still quite a distance to achieve especially for the commercial field, people still help, and people still donate to charity.

When it touches on charity, those who give, does not ask anything in return, they do not look at ROI

For example, @gtpjfoodbank 's post has been substantially supported by @adollaraday and @fundition ; and with their help, the Food Bank has been receiving generous amount of donations especially from A Dollar A Day, while communities like @kedjom-keku , @teammalaysia , @steemxp , @charitycurator , and many more individuals (I don't want to spam all of them here haha) they support via upvotes to help keep the content into trending and reward the food bank's effort through author rewards.

But what happens after that?

  • They can't buy things with SBD / Steem yet
  • The recipients can't eat SBD / Steem (except for @bighugin)

@gtpjfoodbank will be sitting with the rewards and can't do anything but have to exchange it for a more meaningful crypto in order to get the fiat they need for necessary items; just as I have mentioned in my previous post Complemented Parallel Lifestyle to Support the Current Fiat World.

So what if through these posts from @gtpjfoodbank , there are REAL WORLD (non Steemian) investors, noticed the articles and were encouraged and they stepped in for monetary funds?

Should the Food Bank reward the donors who donated their fiat (with no intention of ROI) with Steem / SBD? Just like a peer-to-peer transaction?
Where they can in the future use that token for other things like spending on a burger or even enjoying a purchase from @dstores ?

as an example

Or even better, support other community accounts (and can withdraw anytime later) to keep supporting these charitable accounts to keep generating the Steem / SBD token for good use ?

It is after all, a transparent platform where all the records are kept in the blockchain.

At the end of the day, no crypto will strive in its value if there is no meaning embedded into the crypto itself. Perhaps Steemit has been marketing it in a way that people view it erroneously and misunderstood its usefulness, hence the abuse are in.

Not to mention certain measures are not put in place to avoid abuse to happen.

But that is besides the point, because this deals with the human heart .

I truly hope that whoever reads this could see crypto in a different light. If a crypto was embedded with the wrong value mindset , will there still be a chance that a community (in majority) could put the crypto back into a correct mindset and keep its usefulness going?

Until then

A technology can come and go; but when a lifestyle is applied to it, it becomes a new revolution.

That is why we will have @dstors become the go-to place for true realization of the utility of sbd and steem - people could spend their earnings on the blockchain to spend on things that may be needed and immediately useful in their lives while enjoyng prosperous economic opportunities that come with every transaction. Absolutely.

Yes that is so true @kaliju , and we hope hard that the entrepreneur side will be ready to step up the game. But that being said, I think everyone here in Steemit should cultivate a healthy mindset of being both a seller (consumer) and a buyer (exchanger / products and service provider) of crypto. Then it will not become skewed to a one sided consumerism that can easily become a monopoly giant in the usual economic system that is killing everyone. What do you think?

I think marketplaces like @dstors are key for actually getting people to become buyers and sellers of real things in the crypto network (of people). I think peer-to-peer transactions should be happening more often, but I think that people just overlook that they can be done and always think of larger organizations like exchanges and e-commerce companies to make the selling process "easier". While I think people should develop the sales skills to be able to sell things on their own, the reality is that projects like @dstors are needed to help them through the process and incentivize participation. The work you are doing is important!

Yes you can be right on that @matthewdavid , people must not keep thinking the old consumerism way where we are all fashioned and conditioned into (no) thanks to marketing; and this current lifestyle has literally robbed people off from being creative, and manipulated from "blessing others who work hard and receiving the services they offer" into "what service can you do for me" distorted mentality.

Hope with this idea, we can help recondition many others to be a collaborator helping one another once more.

We look forward to see how @dstors will function! This is an exciting journey for early adapters!

Best regards,
Daily Bread Food Bank

I am still not sure that I understand the main idea behind your focus on giving crypto rewards to those who give to charity.

You wrote:

Should the Food Bank reward the donors who donated their fiat (with no intention of ROI) with Steem / SBD?

Good question. If they donated fiat, they may not even have a blockchain account to receive crypto. If they already do have one, then some kind of "Thank you for giving" message with crypto tokens may make sense. Otherwise, it may be way more complicated than it's worth, especially given that you qualified it with that they "have no intention of ROI".

Keep working these ideas out, presenting them and discussing them. Just because I don't get it right away doesn't mean that it's not important

The main idea is to make sure STEEM / SBD is not being thrown away (for other crypto) and kept it meaningful; be it used for purchases / services like @dstors ; or even supporting community accounts (for example like this one).

My theory is that while people make full use of the steem blockchain in this environment, less Steem / SBD is being "dumped" into exchanges floating (and yearning) to be bought (which also devalues its potential because people do not see its usefulness ), hence it becomes valuable because it is widely being used for a good purpose (instead of just ripping off the reward pool) and it is being distributed to people who CAN make good use of it (instead of being parked in abusive accounts) just like what @berniesanders feared (and has been fighting against this "virus").

Because there is no intention of ROI...

The "shareholders" who have "charitably invested" (to help accounts like @gtpjfoodbank ) how holds a percentage of the DSES SP, and whenever DSES curates (as little power as it is right now), the curation rewards that is being returned will be evenly distributed by percentage and hence the amount of SP they hold grows.

Of course, this is just one of the ways for those who are not interested in Steemit but would still like to help can benefit both DSES and Food Bank (and many other charitable accounts / personal accounts), making whatever they have sowed , something is growing inside for their benefit.

And if one day they would like to surrender a.k.a redeem , DSES can always either absorb the SP and return the stake value to them with fiat, according to the market price the date they wish to surrender ; or better still, when one day they become interested in Steemit, DSES can transfer the SP that belongs to them.

It is all about trust and transparency at the moment, until I have figured out a way to build a system on top of it. Otherwise it is just a Transparent Excel Sheet to look at.

I truly hope that with such an idea, people can be inspired to help keep the blockchain meaningful and alive; and I hope those who sees it will not manipulate it for their own gain.

This has nothing to do with the system but the issue of the heart.
