Hokkien Mee (black version)

Because it is the season of MIB, Men In Black. I was just kidding.

This is a special food, because it's name is rather confusing as it is called the same but it can be different food. My father was from Penang and we often visited Penang and we loved the Hokkien Mee there. (by the way, Hokkien is a dialect). Hokkien Mee from Penang is a soup noodle with broth made from boiling tonnes of prawns for hours for the fragrance.

And when we came to Kuala Lumpur, we saw Hokkien Mee and immediately thrilled to order since we missed it. Then came this stir fry fat noodle in super black dark soy sauce. Initially we thought the boss gave us the wrong food, later on we found out Hokkien Mee in KL is such.

But I gotto tell you, I fell in love instantly with this MIB Hokkien Mee. Especially this one my husband just bought from our favourite stall, they stirred fried the noodle wihh charcoal fire. Apparently, it tastes more fragrant.

I am not sure of the procedure of cooking it but it is super duper yummy. But super fattening too because it contains lots of pork lard as well. Whoops.

Then, we found out at Singapore, Hokkien Mee is the fair type (not with dark soy sauce) but super yummy too, because the noodle is not being exposed to sun, hence the fairness. I do hope you know I am kidding. =p
