Today is our self drive trip, so we are kind of nervous, we get prepared earlier than before, car rental is counting by time, hence we cannot afford to waste time, or else maybe missed out our plan.

Everyday breakfast served with boiled eggs, but Japanese eggs seem to be missing out the egg taste, maybe they are too good in eliminating the odour, even the taste had gone too.

Around 9am, my husband went to collect the rented car, soon he drove the car back into the tiny alley of our house. Too bad, the alley was too narrow for the big car, we able to get in but not get out, we spent quite a while working together, slowly we managed to move it out carefully without any scratch! What a scaring moment! Haha...

Then, we headed to our destination Nikko which is located north of Tokyo. On the road, we were quite familiar with the driving because their habits and rules were quite similar with Malaysia, so not too difficult for us to drive around. But their expressway was not too wide, mostly just 2 lanes for each direction only.

The toll in Japan is very expensive, much expensive than I can imagine! A short trip easily cost 3-4,000 Yen, around RM150. Roughly estimated, a 2 hours journey to and fro around 8,000 Yen, not yet include petrol and parking fees.

Petrol was 150Yen per litre, around RM5.50! Not cheap too! Parking fees starting from 200 Yen per hour! Now I feel that Malaysia is such wonderful and affordable place to travel, however our salary is too low, that is why we are pressured when traveling overseas.

The journey to Nikko took around 1 hour 30 min, first we went to the famous old Toshogu Shrine. When arrived the Nikko town, there were already long queue of cars, maybe it is a tourist hotspot and also a small town, most people chose to drive slowly. Luckily we found a cheaper car park around 500 Yen!

The shrines are located on a hill, looked at the majestic shrine and temples, the remarkable tall trees and the beauty of the nature, it was such a nice view! This is Unesco World Heritage site with one shrine and two temples!

On the way back near to the entrance, there was crowd of people watching monkey show, it was so interesting. There we passed by the temple, but it was still under renovation, although the exterior was fenced up but visitors still can purchased ticket to visit the interior building.

Down the hill across the road, there was a nice view of stream and the famous Shin Kyu. Continue down the road, and we heading towards the town, there we chose one of the restaurants which was recommended online for our lunch.

From the online review, most people already warned their service attitude may not be pleasant m, so we were well expected about this. Just even we asked for kids utensils the owner just reply a No without any smile on his face. But later he brought a pair of kids utensils and put on the table unhappily. Scared me out 😅

We quickly done our lunch and since the weather still fine, we headed to our next destination.
