Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid al-Fitr) Decorations in AEON Big Supermarket

in #teammalaysia5 years ago

Hello dear Steemians! Today, I went to the AEON Big supermarket in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to do my monthly grocery shopping. Since Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid al-Fitr) is around the corner, they have put up some beautiful decorations all around the supermarket.

For those of you who don't know what Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Eid al-Fitr is, it is a celebration of breaking the fast by Muslims after fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.

They hanged some colourful curtains on top in the whole supermarket. It created a happy, festive vibe.

More curtains :D This is my brother =)

These are some special Hari Raya lights in the shape of ketupat which is the traditional food of this festival. Ketupat is made of steamed rice packed in woven palm leaves.

More ketupat lights ☺

This is a close up of a ketupat light in white. They are hanging lights that are similar to fairy lights.

These are some of the decorations that can be added at home especially outdoors in case you have a large tent for the open house guests.

They also sold paper plates and cups. Some of them were specially designed for the festival. It is easier to use these if you are organising an open house where there will be many guests attending. You don't have to spend a lot of time washing plates and cups and spend most of your time enjoying the festival with your loved ones instead.

This is another part of the supermarket.

This is a bamboo light decoration. It symbolizes lemang, which is a traditional food. It is made by cooking glutinous rice, salt and coconut milk in a bamboo. As you can see, this bamboo light decoration costs RM 7.50 which is around 0.25 USD.

These are some brightly hanging ketupat lights that caught my attention!

Check how they created this traditional Malay cultured decoration to display things.

There were many varieties of festival cookies sold. Buying them will save your time if you don't have the time to bake some for yourself =).

These are some special Hari Raya hampers sold for the people who like to gift them to their loved ones or anyone else like coworkers. The curtains at the back were fitted newly for the festival season.

For the people who are the fans of sending traditional raya cards, there are a ton of options to choose from.

This is the clothing section of the supermarket.

These are the traditional clothes sold in the festival season. The outfits in the front part (closest to you) are called Baju Kurung which are worn by girls and women. The outfits hung on the second part are called Baju Melayu and are worn by boys and men.

I snapped a picture of the main banner of the clothing section.

I wish Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid al-Fitr) to all Muslims and Happy Holidays to the rest. Have a great day ahead =)
