Will Blockchain Dating Lead To Professional Daters?

in #tech6 years ago (edited)

Is date-to-earn going to be a thing? It is a possibility. Lets say there is a system where you get a coin for every date you go on. We will say you will need to get an approval from the person you went on a date with to get the coin. So when the date is over you get your pass from your date and then get a coin. If that coin is worth something do you think that would lead to people who would make a career of dating? It could happen.

Blockchain dating kind of scares me. I get the benefits of making sure it is a real person and adding trust to a system but it is a little to 1984 to keep track of these things. Especially dating which is pretty personal. I might be optimistic but I like to think we are heading into a more trusting world. Look at uber, you are getting into a car with a stranger.

But back to dating. Coins will be used for dates and match-making and it could really skew the experience. Now this coin would probably not be worth much, at least not enough to be equivalent to the time you would spend on the date so this will probably not a future we will see but blockchain dating is coming.

I could see this being a thing for prostitution, right or wrong. Or perhaps you could institute a dating system on the blockchain which didnt award coins but used blockchain to keep personal data secure, private and you could implement a reliable reputation system. That could be desireable, especially if you don't find your one true love on the first date.

But I dont imagine we will see professional daters. Having said that these are crazy times, and time will tell.

I suppose everything could go to the blockchain. But monetizing dating? Tinder has already cheapened and debased dating to flings and shallow hookups. I couldn't imagine this working out well for anyone.

Maybe I am a little old fashioned but pay to date does seem a little like prostitution without the guarantees or benefits!

I guess that brings a new meaning to sugar daddy hehe. Some things I think are just best left to do in person. To think an algorithm decides your fate for you on dating sites I can only imagen what they would have to try and find you the perfect match on a blockchain based one.

Date for a coin ????

This thing is going too far... too friken far

I'm actually surprised there isn't a prostitution dApp yet. The anonymity, distributed trust, and built-in payment would make a lot of sense.

This has already been done. Escort services, if you want to exclude prostitution. You go on a date, you get money. And it is also decentralised. I dont see the point of encrypting anything here as services are very anonymous, no real names. I dont see the benefit of this.

Tinder on a blockchain, yeah thats possible. So is eharmony.
