GOOGLE WILL REQUIRE BUYERS OF U.S. RACE ADS TO PROVE THEIR IDENTITIES

Google will start requiring the individuals who purchase promotions identified with government decisions in the United States through its sprawling publicizing system to demonstrate that they are natives or legitimate occupants of the nation.

In a blog entry distributed on Friday, Google said it would find a way to confirm if individuals or associations are permitted to purchase political promoting and request that they demonstrate that they are who they say they are. It will, for instance, approach a political activity advisory group for an Internal Revenue Service-issued business distinguishing proof number, or approach a person for officially sanctioned ID and a Social Security number.

In October, Google revealed that the Internet Research Agency, a Russian organization blamed for intruding in the 2016 presidential decision, had spent about $5,000 purchasing web based promoting amid the race cycle.
