Windows 10, support for version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) ended

in #technology5 years ago

Starting from April 9th 2019 the support of one of the older versions of Windows 10 ceased. We refer to Windows 10 1709 , known as the Fall Creators Update . The Windows 10 Home , Windows 10 Pro , Windows 10 Pro for Workstations and Windows 10 IoT SKUs belonging to 1709 will no longer be supported and it is highly recommended to perform the update. The Windows 10 Enterprise and Education SKUs of version 1709 will still be supported for one year.

For the same reason, the Windows 10 Enterprise and Education SKUs of version 1607 now expire. These releases of Windows 10, in fact, enjoy an extended support period compared to the others, for a total of 30 months from the official debut. However, upon expiration of the date, the installations may still receive support within the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC). The 1607 is still supported for those who have PCs with Intel Clover Trail CPUs, which have never received full support since version 1703.

Other Microsoft products reached the "end-of-life" on April 9th. These include System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008, 2008 R2, Windows Embedded POSReady 2009. We also have other products that have reached the end of mainstream support (but still enjoy the extended one) and are: Deployment Agent 2003, Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset 8.1, User Experience Virtualization 2.0, Visual Studio 2013, Team Foundation Server 2013, Release Management Server for Team Foundation Server 2013, Test Agent and Test Controller.

The discontinued support comes shortly after the release of the Windows 10 May 2019 RTM Update , known as Windows 10 19H1 until a few days ago. This is the update with features of the first half of the year: find more information through the link above.
