Techno- Report #60 - Hyundai Elevate Concept, the walking car
The future is today, technology advances by leaps and bounds and never ceases to amaze us, another of the most criticized inventions of CES 2019 was a car that promises not only to mobilize you but also to walk, this is close to that future that we have seen in the movies. I'm talking about the Hyundai Elevate Concept the car that walks on 4 legs. Join me to learn some features of this unique product.
The Hyundai Elevate Concept was presented at the CES as one of the most expected and striking events of this fair, one of the big questions was in what category would be the walking car, and after extensive discussions between the organizers decided to name the category under the name of Ultimate Mobility Vehicle, because this car does not resemble anything else, even conventional electric cars.
The car was the creative process of the Hyundai company for more than 5 years and the aim was to develop a hybrid car with characteristics of electric car and robot, has a platform on 4 wheels like the other vehicles only that these wheels can be deployed, being able at first to mobilize like any other vehicle, but if you enter a terrain difficult to access can deploy its wheels and literally can walk.
Other goals with this super traction deployable that can make the vehicle walk are natural disasters of any kind, there may be an earthquake, fire, hurricane, or flood and the car can leave a devastated site with ease of walking, saving the lives of crew members in the shortest time possible.
The Hyundai Elevate Concept can move quickly on any highway like any car and in turn, can climb stairs or any difficult terrain, this makes this model well above any car on the market for its performance. It is equipped with 4 electric motors and if that were not enough will have the ability to drive autonomously in case of emergency.
It has the latest that has been developed in robotic technology and electromobility, its robotic legs can achieve 5 degrees of mobility and electric propulsion in each wheel, the exterior design was inspired by a reptile with omnidirectional movement, is planned in a first phase of production that acquire fire brigades or rescue organizations until now there are no plans to market the car to civilians.
This car has surpassed all my expectations when it comes to technology, another great advance for humans, robotics, science at the service of humans. Although it is not strange that Asians have invented this technological advance, in Asia there are many environmental catastrophes produced mainly by typhoons or hurricanes, followed by earthquakes and tidal waves, although these countries enjoy great technology to prevent and minimize the risks of death of the population, as is the case of South Korea and Japan that lead not only in robotics but in all fields of technology.
So it is expected to be of great use in these countries, although I hope that someday it will be sold to civilians, and are too many years with an invention that has only referred to changes to its housing at most in the electric motor that is so to speak fashionable, except these advances the cars are still the same as 50 years ago, even longer if we take as a reference that continues to use the wheel.
