The Android platform in May 2018: Oreo exceeds the 5%

in #technology6 years ago

Launched officially in August 2017, Android 8 (Oreo) is now up to 5.7% of all Android-powered devices in circulation, four times less than the number of Android 6.0 devices and over five times less than the number devices powered by the Android 7.0 / 7.1 version.

Compared to the previous month, the two Android versions Oreo (8.0 and 8.1) increased by 1.1% market share, especially for users who have upgraded or replaced their devices equipped with older versions of Android. Still delivered to many devices in the lower price range or as an upgrade for existing devices, the Android 7.1 version gained 0.4%, reaching a market share of 8.2%.

The third place is now the "old" Android Marshmallow (6.0), with 25.5% of all active devices on Google Play services. Right below it we find Android 5.1 with 17.6% market share. Also, another "antiquity" in the top, Android KitKat, is well on the 5th place, with 10.3% of the total.

Since there are already several hardware developers' initiatives to bring Oreo to the already released models, this variant has no trajectory but upwards, at least until the official release of the Android P release.
