Lexus Landaulet

in #technology6 years ago

Lexus Landaulet was made in a single copy and with one purpose — to be the official transport at the wedding of the sovereign Prince of Monaco albert II and Charlene Wittstock in 2011.

Monaco is a small Principality, but as for cars, the concentration of supercars per square meter is higher than all the world indicators. However, the reigning monarchs have recently taken special care of the environment. Therefore, the princely fleet for several years working with the company Lexus, which is actively engaged in the development of hybrid cars in the premium segment. So long to think about what kind of car will be the "carriage of the newlyweds", did not have to: the Prince did not hesitate to point to the top model LS600H in the line of Lexus, which has the least amount of emissions of harmful substances among similar machines. But the newlyweds wanted all the inhabitants of the Principality to be able to see them when they go through the streets of the city.

After listening to the wishes of lovers, Lexus engineers offered to make a unique design of the car, which would be based on the limousine LS600H. By the way, the car and without any intervention is special-with the total power of the motor in almost 450 horsepower, it consumes only 6 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. However, these figures are a little worried about albert II-the main thing that the net electric train Lexus will be able to drive about 5 kilometers, that is, the entire wedding route.

The company's engineers decided to open to the public all the space above the back seat of the car, cutting off the roof on this site. But it was important for designers to make a new body as reliable as possible. To do this, the most durable and lightest materials were used: Kevlar, carbon fiber. Due to this, the cut body of the sedan could boast the same characteristics as usual.

Another technical solution made designers sweat: the body should be open, but safe and modern, as well as protect against possible weather. Removable leather roof with electric Japanese-Belgian tandem swept immediately-first, violated the harmonious silhouette of the car, and secondly, the classic is not in the style of the monarch. Therefore, we decided to make a transparent "cap" — light and slightly noticeable. The best specialists of the military industry in the development of panoramic Windows for helicopters and aircraft were invited to help. After endless consultations, polycarbonate was chosen as the material for the roof, as this will allow to bring the weight of the part to 26 kilograms and provide an overview to both passengers and spectators of the celebration.

The installation of a unique roof on the wedding car was carried out by a specially reprogrammed robot, which made it possible to achieve an exact fit of parts to the body. The theme of nature conservation in the creation of cars continued and eco-friendly water-based paint, which covered the Lexus Landaulet LS600H.

The monarch wedding was perfect. And the next day the limousine finished his "career", becoming an honorary exhibit Of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco.
