Solar Powered Off Grid Hot Water Heat Pump

in #technology6 years ago (edited)

Heating hot water is one of the biggest power hog challenges of any off grid solar powered system. This is my solution. Check out the link below.

My wife corrected me; our old resistance electric hot water heater pulled 11-12 Kw per day. We are down to 2.5 Kw with this system! :)

For our pool we use about 400' of black garden hose and a small solar pump to keep the water trickling through. The water from the hose was at 120 F yesterday.

Excellent, very creative !

Nice solution for sure, with a big drop in electricity consumption. Thanks for the idea. Personaly I am very attached to on demand water heaters. For us it's a space saving thing and we've never run out of hot water unless the propane is out of course.

Have ever seen these crazy set ups

I've seen some insane and scary showers in central and south america... I wonder how much power those things draw? Google electric shoer head water heater to see more if you want.

Thanks for the nice post @silvertop 😁

Wow! That is scary I hope it’s low voltage. Things are very different around the world. My son just went to Hungary last year, and he said on some of the very tall buildings there are no safety railings. They just believe if you hurt yourself it’s your own fault 😱
