Least Surprising Headline Ever. Big Tech Is Always Spying More Than They Let On.

in #technology5 years ago

I can’t believe that people can still be surprised by big tech companies invading their privacy. It is a pattern that has been increasing steadily for many years.

As a rule of thumb we should just assume that any electric device has the capability to monitor us. (Even when it is ‘off’).

The fact that these home speakers are so inexpensive is the first hint that they are mostly there to record you and get better at making you a consumer of things that you don’t need.

This will never stop as long as we remain asleep to the dangers. Technology can be a wonderful thing, but we must use wisdom and discretion in how we use these tools. (The less the better.)

I do agree forces are out their trying to invade our lives in ways we not particular like. But, I doubt the claim Amazon employs 1.000s of people to listen to conversations. They are simply too big a company with too much to loose when these claims turns out to be true, meaning they would have people to listening to conversations for other purposes than what Alexa is meant to do.

Hopefully you are right. I agree that it seems like a huge risk and waste of resources.
