We have another RAISED BED!! ♥ Let me know which style YOU prefer!
Good morning all!
Just a quick post today! I didn't get any photos yet, but I DO have a short video showing my new RAISED BED!
But first, here is a photo of my beautiful helper with her dress that SHE MADE!!
If you remember, I said that this is the year we grow our own for for REAL this time! We are determined!
I have one bed up and running, and I just couldn't wait to get the next one up! Well, after comparing costs, we discovered that it would be cheaper to make raised beds out of sheet metal and 2x4's. Last weekend we made our first one! I have yet to fill it, that is rather a HUGE chore, but I am working on it! I cannot wait to plant my tomato and pepper seedlings out there!! YUM!

Yes, I have a friend who is good at making clothes and things, and she offered to teach her how. She spent the afternoon at her house, and she learned a LOT! My friend said all she did was explain what to do and how to use the pattern, and my daughter did it all! It's not perfect, but it is a wonderful first dress!! She cant wait to do it again. ♥
Okay that is seriously inspiring! I know you are so proud!! Does your daughter have have a sewing machine at home? Please tell her she is an inspiration for my daughter! 😊

I DO have a sewing machine at home! It's amazing! And it does the job pretty darn well! I am very happy with it! I got it one Christmas...

I am so glad you have a sewing machine at home that you love! I think it is so awesome that you enjoy sewing and are starting out at a young age. You are very inspiring. My 8 year old daughter is also learning how to sew! Your dress is great motivation for her!! Job well done ~ 🤗🌻

Very inventive @squishysquid, it's going to be quite a job filling that one. Would be great for planting potatoes as well, being so deep! One could perhaps drill holes in the sides and plant strawberries in them?

That's a good idea! This one is going to be for watermelons, peppers and tomatoes. Also a row of carrots, and something viney in the back to trellis. Beans and/or cukes, maybe?
Oh yeah, Nate would definitely do the bigger less expensive one. Those things look good! Have you looked into making a traditional hugelkultur bed?
You know, I only recently heard of that the other day,and apparently it involves putting logs and sticks in there... Ill have to look it up and see what all it entails....
The sheet metal looks so cool and worked well for the ned beds your gardens and growing nicely with more space now

Definitely the sheet metal beds, they look way nicer! The fact that they're cheaper doesn't really show, to be honest.
