Rafael Nadal - US Open - Check!

in #tennis5 years ago

For those of you who don't watch tennis, yesterday took place the US Open final. The outcome was somehow what I was hoping for. There were so many surprises before the finals that no one could be sure what is going to happen.

Even though Rafael Nadal took home the cup, I have a great respect for both players. Daniil Medvedev is a 23 year old player with a lot of potential. He showed the world what he's capable of, making Nadal sweat for the title. While a day before Serena got beaten after only two sets (), yesterday Rafael Nadal needed five sets to win (7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4) and had to play almost five hours. This shows how good Medvedev is.

That's what Nadal said after the match and I agree with that statement. Medvedev is the player who is worth to be reckoned with as I see a bright future ahead of him. He did the best he could to be the best and that brought him into the final. I'm glad he had the chance to show his real value. This was an important lesson for him, a great experience that he's going to use in the future.

Nadal has won 19 Grand Slam singles titles, the second most in history for a male player, as well as a record 35 ATP Tour Masters 1000 titles, 20 ATP Tour 500 titles, and the 2008 Olympic gold medal in singles. In addition, Nadal has held the world No. 1 ranking for a total of 196 weeks.[3] In majors, Nadal has won a record twelve French Open titles, four US Open titles, two Wimbledon titles, and one Australian Open title. Nadal has won 84 career titles overall, including a record 59 clay court titles. With 81 consecutive match wins on clay, Nadal holds the record for the longest single-surface win streak in the Open Era. source

He's 33 years old, still young and has a few years to spend in tennis. His career is far from over, he still has a mission and has to win a lot more.

By looking at this graphic you can see that's going to be next year. Roger Federer is going to stay ahead and win as many Grand Slams he can, Rafael Nadal is going to try to take first place by winning more Grand Slams as Federer. None of them is going to take things lightly, we're going to witness a cruel fight, I'm pretty sure of it. Nadal has the huge advantage of being six years younger than the Swiss Federer and that counts a lot.

This is the best they can do, this way tennis is never boring. I don't know about you but I'm looking forward to it. let the best win!
