Tesla's sales in the US surpasses Mercedes-Benz's and goes after BMW
Tesla has reached an important turning point that shows that electric cars go at maximum speed to the masses of people. And whom adopted this technology earlier, seems to get in front of the biggest world car competitors.
The Silicon Valley company has surpassed the US-based veteran manufacturer Mercedes-Benz for July-September, says Jean Baptiste Su, chief analyst at Atherton Research, for a report by Forbes.
It draws attention to the fact that Tesla could soon overcome the sales of other veteran manufacturers, at least on the US market. Tesla did not comment on analysts' estimates at Atherton Research.
After the producer in Palo Alto, California, managed to reach its production target at the end of tumultuous weeks for Elon Musk, the company now wants to shape its mark among the giants of luxury car production.
"When they produced only the S-model and the X-model, they were a niche manufacturer who had even failed to scare the car manufacturers out of the market" said Jeremy Acevedo, Indtradical Manager at the Edmunds Research Platform. "But now that Model 3 has reached its production target, Tesla is starting to eat from other producers."
Model S and X vehicles, which can be priced at over $ 100,000, have become a symbol of status, but Model 3 - which generally sells around $ 55,000 - has placed Tesla on the regular consumer's radar. Tesla sold 69,925 Model 3, S and X vehicles in the US in the third quarter, compared with German manufacturer sales that stood at about 66,542 vehicles, says Baptiste Su.
And during the current quarter, Tesla could overcome a new rival, BMW, which sold 71,679 vehicles in the third quarter. Will the consecrated car manufacturers get back on the road and speed up their investment in electric cars....I sure hope so as we need some concurrency in the market in order to adopt this technology sooner rather than later. So, let's hope all will focus on electric cars and we'll all be able to make the switch through affordable cars.
