South Korean actress faces jail time in Thailand for Realty TV stunt!

Breakout South Korean actress Lee Yeol-eum, known for her various roles in Korean Drama series, has been charged with hunting and catching endangered Giant Clams by Thai authorities.

The sentence, which carries a maximum fine of 40,000 baht and 4 years in prison, was handed out to the 23 year old actress on Friday. The sentence comes after the latest episode of "The Law of the Jungle", a survival reality tv show which costars Yeol-eum aired.

The episode, which was filmed in in a Thai national marine park back in March, shows the superstar cheering and clapping as she captures three of the protected giant shellfish. The clams were later cooked and eaten by the cast on air.

Seoul Broadcasting System, which produces the show, issues an extensive apology over the weekend for filming without thorough understanding of local regulations. But Narong Kongeiad, chief of Hat Chao Mai National Park, who filed police charges, wasn't impressed.

"Sea resources in Hat Chao Mai cannot be caught, hunted or cooked, and the cast and crew were fully aware of that because the park firmly informed them of the restrictions before they began filming." Mr. Narong said. src

The show is also coming under fire at home, receiving an angry backlash from internet users demanding that the show be canceled.

The show runners have apologize, but the criminal case hasn't been withdrawn. Ultimately it is now in the hands of court prosecutors whether to pursue the case against Lee or have it dropped.
