Veo pasar el tiempo y no puedo alcanzarlo - I see time passing and I can't reach it

Si corro contra el tiempo me parece que fallaré. El tiempo se traslada en una sola dirección. No existe manera de recuperarlo.

Si miro las horas como las nubes del cielo, me parecen inalcanzables. Son una masa ligera que vuela, a la cual solo admiro desde lejos. Si es un día estupendo solo será una forma pasajera, si es un día nublado, podría dejar sobre mí lluvia o granizo. En todo caso no podré evitar que pase.

Si los minutos son como liebres del campo que escapan a su madriguera, me parece que no podré alcanzarlos. No tengo la habilidad de correr tan rápido. Una vez que se oculten, no podré hallarlos en las profundidades de la tierra.

Si miro los segundos como las estrellas distantes en los cielos nocturnos, me parece que jamás podré saber su forma. Sé que están allí cada noche y cada día, pero no puedo llegar a ellos por la lejanía.

Si miro al tiempo como si fuera oro refinado, me parece que soy muy pobre para tener un pedazo. Aunque trabajara toda mi vida, solo tendría que conformarme con soñar tenerlo.

Así pasa el tiempo sin poder tocarlo. Si no aprovecho mis oportunidades, me quedaré solo para contemplarlo...

If I run out of time, I think I'll fail. Time moves in one direction only. There is no way to recover it.

If I look at the hours like the clouds in the sky, they seem unattainable to me. They are a light mass that flies, which I only admire from afar. If it is a stupendous day it will only be a passing form, if it is a cloudy day, I could leave rain or hail on me. In any case I will not be able to prevent it from happening.

If the minutes are like hares of the field that escape their burrow, it seems to me that I will not be able to reach them. I don't have the ability to run that fast. Once they hide, I won't be able to find them in the depths of the earth.

If I look at the seconds as the distant stars in the night skies, it seems to me that I will never know their shape. I know they are there every night and every day, but I cannot reach them from afar.

If I look at the time as if it were refined gold, it seems to me that I am too poor to have a piece. Even if I worked all my life, I would only have to be content with dreaming of having it.

Time goes by without being able to touch it. If I don't take advantage of my opportunities, I will be left alone to contemplate it...
