To Our Mockingbird - Day 113 - Daily Haiku

To our mockingbird
singing your heart out all night
thank you for your song

Cori MacNaughton

When Marek and I arrived home tonight our mockingbird was singing away, as he had been before we left, and sporadically throughout the day.

I have learned that the mockingbirds that sing all night are usually the unattached, unmated males, which at last in part explains their tenacity and determination, not to mention their one-upmanship in learning as many new songs as they can. This is how they prove themselves worthy to the females as potential mates.

Here is a photo of our mountain azalea again, this time in full, glorious bloom, as opposed to the last photos I posted with many of the buds still unopened. It does after all have a lovely light scent; it won't be perfuming any neighborhoods, as did our male papaya tree in Florida, but it has a lovely scent all the same.

I'll definitely be propagating this one, through cuttings and transplanting a few of the young volunteers, and saving seed to do more down the road. This is definitely one of the lovelier of our native flowering bushes, and although it is in no way endangered, I would love to see it booming along our highways, rather than the invasive ailanthus and Pawlonias.

Melaleuca, a company that has been making natural, eco-friendly
products since the 1980s, that not only work as well as
chemically laden versions from the supermarket,
but are safer, and typically save money overall in addition.

I was introduced to them by a co-worker in 1990, lost track
of them, and was thrilled to find them again about a year
and a half ago. I strongly recommend their products.

This photo of our mountain azalea I took a few days ago using my Samsung Note 8 smart phone.

The photo of our dog, Lolo, and our late cat, Miod, I took as they were cooperatively begging at the dinner table, despite our longstanding rule of not feeding them from the table.

You can see how much that deterred them both.

I love your haikus - and all the bonus information you give us with each one!

Thanks, Carol!

Yeah, I can be pretty verbose at times, but I do try to give useful, or at least interesting information. Of course what I find interesting isn't always what others find interesting, but more often than not, I can find ways to make the two intersect. Or at least I hope so. ;-)

You sound like me... oh wait, that's happened before, hasn't it ;-)
You're ALWAYS interesting to me! If nobody else is listening, I am!
