HEAD SPINNING
I received a call yesterday and my business partner was rushed to hospital with stomach pains. Thank god it was just a gall bladder.
I need to set up insurance policies to cover both of us. This is something we have spoken about but just never got round to doing it. We are all getting older and there are no guarantees in life. Why do we think about things and never follow through with them. I think it could be the idea that you will be ok and nothing will happen. Things become busy and it gets put on the back burner.
In business I suppose it is more important to have cover as this has highlighted a weakness between us. If I was to go down or something major happened the business would change and it would survive but having policies in place would help. The business is supporting a few families so it was a stupid part to neglect and a good wake up call. It is not as though we have others who can just cover us and everything carries on as normal.

yeah voluntary insurance is always the last in the list of priorities but when something happens it floats to the top but may be too late
Dunno. In that time, while i have learn in university, and just started my first paid job, the insurance was my FIRST priority, to take care of it. And i was 20 years old, with huge expensives for girls, party, and fun, and spend that money to any kind of this stuff, it was hard :)
After i reach the good amount in my monthly salary, i made an insurance-contract, and it works since then.

It's funny how that is. For some uncanny reason, I always have this sense that there is still time, even though being a realist, I know I am not guaranteed to still be here by the end of this day. I do leave some things undone, thinking I will get back to them shortly and then they fade into the background as life goes on.
It's probably good you got this chance to bring it forward and rethink it..... and make it a priority for all of your sakes.
