A QUICK REVIEW OF THINGS

in #thoughts5 years ago

It's been a very cold day here in Lagos-Nigeria. We had heavy downpours this morning and that set the tone for the rest of the day.

I have been trying to replenish my steem-power after using up almost half of it. It's nice just taking the back seat for once and just watch things from the side. I've not been that active on twitter either but I think I will gain momentum from tomorrow. The store I usually go to charge my phone had issues with their generator and given that constant power supply is a luxury in this part of the world, I have had to manage my battery's power.

According to @acesontop in his recent article, about $11b was added to the crypto market in just one day. I'm not a daily trader but this is good news for me. Steem seems to be doing well I suppose. It was all green when I last checked. I do not fully understand the crypto market, my primary concern is steem, which is the major coin I hold. I thought about converting some of steem to bitcoin some time ago but it never got passed the thought-stage.

Honestly, I do want the price to stay low. My prediction was that the price of bitcoin and altcoins will begin to increase during the third quarter of the year. There is no practical reason to this though, it's just wishful thinking. But I do strongly believe things will begin to pick up at some point this year, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Hopefully, I get back to vlogging and post a video tomorrow.

Counting my blessing. I feel fortunate to have discovered crypto--steem to be precise--at the time I did. This seems surreal when I think of the possibilities and how life changing this whole experience has been. A friend asked me today how I manage to get this far today, and I blabbed about being consistent. But honestly, it's more about the timing of it all. I probably would not have gotten this far if everyone who optimistic about cryptocurrency and steem when I started. Even my said mentors who encouraged me to be consistent are nowhere to be found but thank God I took their advice. I'm here building something that might end up becoming a career. I'm already doing this full-time. Although it doesn't pay all the bills (it doesn't even come close trust me), but it is something. My younger brother who works for an electricity company earns in a month what I sometimes earn in a week. I jokingly told him to quit his job, he could make enough on here for his college fund. Well that aside, the point I'm trying to make here is that I have been lucky. I stuck to a project/platform most people had given up on and it is paying off, but not forever.

I believe in times and seasons. This happens to be my time I suppose, it might not last forever. I remember when I used to struggle to a dollar on a post (still do); I remember being jealous of people who earned more then $3 per post,( if only I knew how things will change for me) but things have definitely changed now.

I'm not where I want to be yet. I was thinking today, about my steem journey and what the next phase should be. Asides my aim of becoming a dolphin, I think it might be the time to create my own community. Asides being passionate about steem and earning, I'm also passionate about helping other steemians within my sphere in their journey and I have been thinking of ways to accomplish this. I might not necessarily need to start a new community. I can support existing communities and find the type of people I want to help. But to be honest I'm yet to find one--someone who is passionate as I am and willing to give their best. For me, steem was my only option and I gave it all I had. I'm searching for people like myself who is passionate about succeeding (and not just earning). This will show in the effort you put into creating content and people will notice this. If you're doing a halfhearted job people will notice as well. You cannot really cheat your way around or out if this, your work speaks for itself. But like I said earlier you also need luck on your side.

This was supposed to be a halfhearted post, to meet my daily task of posting every day, but it turned out differently. So I guess it just comes naturally to me-- wanting to give my best in any given situation. I wish every steemian had this attitude. At this point, we are fortunate enough to earn steem with little or no effort. Believe me, if this was medium or YouTube most of us would not stand a chance, but here we are lucky enough to have found this platform, so why not give it your best? I leave you with these thoughts

Very true. Even when you're starting out on here you can still keep those few cents you make. I've not experienced medium, but you get nothing on YouTube until you build up a big following.

True that. And to be honest, we won't have the audience to consume most of the contents we have here, as many of them will not pass the quality test, including some of my post. And we will only start getting really competition on here when we go mainstream. Only those who have accumulated enough steem in this era will survive the next

I can't see the full picture as to how it will all work out as we go mainstream, but I think it will certainly be an interesting era. It feels like the more people there are on here, the further the pool has to stretch and the smaller the rewards will be. However, if we don't grow it will fizzle out and die.

Consistency is key as the ecosystem is built on engagement and activity surrounding the connections that are created here. I believe this to be the value being created across the platforms. Keep up the great work!
