🐳Pintuyan Whale Shark Watching

❓Are you familiar about Oslob Whale Shark Watching and Donsol Whale Shark Watching? Southern Leyte have gentle giants as well, but they are not available yet from June to October. Do not worry because you have your chance to meet them from November to March. They are migratory creatures, not fed by the locals of Pintuyan, so they are not always present.

💧Cagnituan Falls

❓A hidden falls is within the city of Maasin. You will have to travel a 7-kilometer road before you reach the Tourist Information Center where you would want to register. From there, a 10-20 minutes walk will be done prior to reaching the falls. In addition, there is a cavern at the top of the falls.

🏝Kalanggaman Island
📍(Palompon, Leyte)
🏁120km from Tacloban, almost 3-hour ride, plus 1-hour boat ride

❓This island is reachable after a 1 hour travel by boat from the town proper of Palompon. You cannot use soaps and shampoos here. So your best bet would be, bring some wet wipes to ease discomfort from not rinsing properly.

❓Ever heard of Kawasan Falls? This is the version of it in Southern Leyte, but is more challenging and require more energy to complete the whole activity. This activity is almost half day, so be sure to be at the Tourist Information Center as early as possible to get started.

❓Tangkaan Beach, with rock formations made from sharp corals, is open to the public with a minimal entrance fee for maintenance purposes.

❓Humongous sized statues are erected on this site, for the history of General Douglas MacArthur's landing on Leyte.

⛰Lagoma Rock Formation

❓One kilometer distance from the beach of Silago, is a rock island with lots of sea snakes (walo-walo) and birds living together. You can visit the island only if the weather is good. Otherwise, your boat cannot dock properly when there are big waves present.

❓These man-made materials’ purpose were to cover the beach area from approaching large waves. However, they are also good for wanderers looking for something different for their photos. Let us be honest. This area may not be the best spot that I would recommend to everyone, but I find it fascinating to look at the structures with regular patterns designed by DPWH. You will get what I mean when you visit the site and see for yourself.

❓The last part of Southern Leyte is a small island with big surprises. Be sure to visit them all.

❓The big pillars are similar to Greece's architecture. No wonder, tourists flock to this area to have their picturesque moments. Maybe this would be the alternate version of Cebu’s “Temple of Leah.”

❓Like Cebu, Leyte eventually have it. Baybay City was the first area in Leyte installed with thousands of synthetic flowers that glow at night. This is the best place for every lover out there.

🏖Cuatro Islas

❓Two of these four islands are available for beach goers. The other two are private and unavailable.

❓A small island just for a 20-minute boat ride before you reach the main area.

🌉San Juanico Bridge

❓The longest bridge in Asia, the bridge that connects Samar and Leyte. This is the most famous landmark that everyone is familiar.
