Exploring the "Foresto Vecchio", Asolo - province of Treviso - Discovering Italy with alequandro

The weather did not promise anything good but my desire to explore did not subside, so on Sunday I decided to walk up an old road, in the shade of old trees, between ancient houses and boundary walls.

Il meteo non prometteva niente di buono ma la mia voglia di esplorare non si placava, così domenica ho deciso di risalire a piedi una vecchia strada, all'ombra di piante secolari, tra antiche case e muri di cinta.

The road is narrowed by two city walls and it would not seem but this route is very ancient in fact it was used many centuries ago to go to the medieval castle of Asolo.

La strada è stretta da due cinte murarie e non sembrerebbe ma questo percorso è antichissimo infatti veniva utilizzato molti secoli fa per andare nel castello medievale di Asolo.

Entering a long tunnel, I wonder what to serve. Shortly after I manage to climb the difference in height and realize that right above the road, above the tunnel, there is an ancient house and not far away a winery!

Entrando in un lungo tunnel mi domando a cosa povesse servire. Poco dopo riesco a risalire il dislivello e capisco che proprio sopra la strada, sopra il tunnel, c'è un'antica casa e poco lontano azienda vinicola!

Some stretches of the road, which was all straight, were not limited by the walls and you could see flowery meadows, ancient olive trees or cultivated fields...

Alcuni tratti della strada, che era tutta dritta, non erano limitate dalle mura e si poteva scorgere prati fioriti, olivi secolari o campi coltivati...

One thing that left my mouth open during this walk was a giant tree that was on the side of the road. It was awesome!

Una cosa che mi ha lasciato la bocca aperta durante questa camminata è stato un albero gigantesco che era sul ciglio della strada. Era impressionante!

It is difficult to understand the dimensions through a photo, I tried to take a selfie...

I didn't understand what tree it was, I'll try to ask an expert friend!

A passage above the road makes me understand that the property of the neighboring house extends on both sides of the road.

Un passaggio sopra la strada mi fa intendere che la proprietà della casa vicina si estende su entrambi i lati della strada.

I discover that in this place live the heirs of the ancient noble families of the place.

Scopro che in questo posto vivono gli eredi delle antiche famiglie nobili del luogo.

At a point where the road is wider, I see the ancient fortress in the background.

In un punto dove la strada è più ampia, scorgo sullo sfondo l'antica rocca.

A few meters further on I am intrigued by a wall with some openings, hiding something interesting...

Pochi metri più avanti vengo incuriosito da un muro di cinta con alcune aperture, celava qualcosa di interessante...

It was one of the Zen family villas!
A family of Venetian patricians, already very rich in the 18th century.
Throughout the Veneto region they owned entire countryside where agricultural buildings and hunting houses were built.

Si trattava di una delle ville della famiglia Zen!
Una casata di patrizi veneziani, ricchissimi già nel '700.
In tutto la regione del veneto possedevano intere campagne dove cotruivano edifici agricoli, case di caccia.

I decide to continue and arrive in front of a very special house.
It is part of the border wall with the road that is entirely covered with ivy.

Decido di proseguire e arrivo di fronte a una casa davvero particolare.
Fa parte del muro di confine con la strada che è interamente ricoperto di edera.

It can be seen that it is very old, it is made entirely of stone and wood.
Also the architraves of the windows are made of wood and we see that they are ancient.

Si vede che è molto antica, è realizzata tutta in pietra e legno.
Pure le architravi delle finestre sono in legno e si vede che sono antiche.

There was an effigy placed under a funny wooden head, it was written in Venetian dialect.

C'era un' effigie posta sotto una buffa testa di legno, era scritto in dialetto veneto.

"Napoleon never slept in this house, but a Bonaparte of our beautiful girls".

The landlord has a sense of humor!

"In questa casa non ha mai dormito Napoleone, ma una Bonaparte delle nostre belle ragazze".

Il padrone di casa ha il senso dell'umorismo!

Continuing I saw many old houses, all on two floors, bordering the street, connected with the stone wall.
It is a typical building type of this place.

Proseguendo ho visto molte case antiche, tutte su due piani, confinanti con la strada, collegate con il muro in pietra.
E' una tipica tipologia edilizia di questo posto.

I see a narrow stone staircase and I decide to do it.

Intravedo una stretta scala in pietra e decido decido di farla.

I was a few meters from the ancient church of San Gottardo!

Mi trovavo a pochi metri dall'antica chiesa di San Gottardo!

Unfortunately the church was closed, so I limited myself to photographing the simple facade typical of the Franciscan style.

Purtroppo la chiesa era chiusa, quindi mi sono limitato a fotografare la semplice facciata tipica dello stile francescano.

Then I took a walk near the church and given the gloomy day I thought of photographing a little color! :-)

Poi ho fatto due passi nei pressi della chiesa e vista la giornata uggiosa ho pensato di fotografare un po' di colore! :-)

From the street I noticed a beautiful pergola with wisteria flowers.
It must be magnificent in the morning, having breakfast under the wisteria flowers! :-D

Dalla strada ho notato un bellissimo pergolato con i fiori di glicine.
Dev'essere magnifico la mattina, fare colazione sotto i fiori di glicine! :-D
