The Discount Chemist in my local area ......
I know that world-wide discount chemists are common. This information is not new to lots of Steemians I am sure. But, I thought I would share information and photos of the Discount Chemist business in Australia. They are very productive and successful business for the owners of this franchise. First of all, these chemists are seen everywhere in the country. They are well patronised by us Australians everywhere. Lots of people shop at these Chemists to get bargins.
In my section of the Sunshine Coast there is one Discount Chemist that provides all kinds of services to meet the health and medical needs of people. No matter when one goes be assured that shoppers will be standing in aisles checking out the hundreds of products. The Chemist opens at 8am with closing time at 7pm during weekdays. On weekends 9am is the opening of the door with a 5pm closing time.
The pharmacy at the rear end of the store is is sought after by people wanting doctors' scripted filled. The main reasons for this demand is that the Discount Chemist advertises the cheapest price for prescriptions. Not a particularly the most attractive looking frontage but what the heck it gets us in - right?.
Inside the Discount Chemist is like walking into a another planet; there are lots of aisles packed to the hilt with a wide variety of skin care, baby stuff, vitamins, essential oils, shampoos, body wash and lotion, tooth paste and so much more! It is a buyer's dream. When on special specific perfume brands are even cheaper here than Duty Free would you believe. Sorry, I get a bit blown away at what can be bought in a Discount Chemist!
No wonder the Discount Chemist can offer such good prices. They not only buy in bulk but have quick turnover of their products. Also, the number of staff in each Chemist seems to be small. Of course there is only one counter at the front to pay as you leave. I reckon it is great business idea and a fabulous money earner for the owners.

oh how interesting @angiemitchell I've never seen a store like this called a Discount Chemist, these would be like our Pharmacies right and your Chemist would be our Pharmacist? yes that would be a favorite store to go to!
