A Walk to Surfers Paradise / Ein Spaziergang zu Surfers Paradise
Since we´re at the Gold Coast here in Australia we were quite busy with work and our Van search, still without success. But we don´t give up. Today was nice weather, nit to hot, so we decided to go for a little walk to famous Surfers Paradise
Seit wir an der Gold Coast hier in Australien sind, waren wir ziemlich beschäftigt mit der Arbeit und unserer Van-Suche, immer noch ohne Erfolg. Aber wir geben nicht auf. Heute war schönes Wetter, nicht zu heiß, also beschlossen wir, einen Spaziergang zum berühmten Surfers Paradise zu machen.
Surfers Paradise is known for it´s skyline and the sandbeach which streches over many kilometers. The name is a little bit misleading as it isn´t the best spot to go surfing. It´s quite alright if you´re a beginner but there are better spots on the Gold Coast.
But as many other beaches in Australia, Surfers Paradise have some of the best Lifeguards on the beach. And they need them, in summer thousands of locals and tourists from all over the world travel to this destination which is also known as the party capitol of Australia. In 2016 the counted 1 Mio. Visitors!
Surfers Paradise ist bekannt für seine Skyline und den Sandstrand, der sich über viele Kilometer erstreckt. Der Name ist etwas irreführend, da es nicht der beste Spot zum Surfen ist. Er ist in Ordnung wenn man ein Anfänger ist, aber es gibt definitiv bessere Spots an der Gold Coast.
Aber wie viele andere Strände in Australien, hat Surfers Paradise einige der besten Rettungsschwimmer am Strand. Und sie brauchen sie, im Sommer reisen Tausende von Einheimischen und Touristen aus der ganzen Welt an dieses Ziel, das auch als die Party-Hauptstadt Australiens bekannt ist. Im Jahr 2016 zählten sie 1 Mio. Besucher!
The suburb is dominated by big Apartment complexes, malls, restaurants and night life locations. Everything here is designed for tourism. One really has to like that otherwise you won´t have much fun here. For me it look a bit like the Mallorca for the Germans. It´s probably funny for one night but I couldn´t stay here for longer.
Der Vorort wird von großen Apartmentanlagen, Einkaufszentren, Restaurants und Nachtlokalen dominiert. Hier ist alles auf den Tourismus ausgerichtet. Man muss das wirklich mögen, sonst hat man hier keinen Spaß. Für mich sieht es ein bisschen aus wie Mallorca für die Deutschen. Es ist wahrscheinlich lustig für eine Nacht, aber ich könnte nicht länger hier bleiben.

As I said, it was nice for a quick visit in the morning and for lunch, but I leave everything else to other people. We walked the whole way back to our accommodation which was around 4-5km. The whole region has a lot of small islands where the richer people live. From there you always have a perfect view on the skyline. They also got some nice big parks here to hang around and relax.
Wie gesagt, es war schön für einen kurzen Besuch am Morgen und zum Mittagessen, aber alles andere überlasse ich anderen. Wir gingen den ganzen Weg zurück zu unserer Unterkunft, die etwa 4-5 km entfernt war. In der ganzen Region gibt es viele kleine Inseln, auf denen die reicheren Menschen leben. Von dort haben Sie immer einen perfekten Blick auf die Skyline. Hier gibt es auch einige schöne große Parks zum Verweilen und Entspannen.

Ironic that there doesn't seem to be any surfers surfing at Surfer's Paradise ;)

I mean it´s still a good surf spot, just no waves at the moment. But there is much better spots at the Gold Coast, like Snapper Rocks, Duranbah or Superbank. Surfers Paradise is more the Tourist Beach I guess.
