The Blue Mountains Nationalpark

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge by @czechglobalhosts

The Blue Mountains were the very first Nationalpark we ever vistied here in Australia. When we arrived in Sydney on our first trip to that beautiful country we went straight into the inland to explore that amazing big Forest with it´s thousand of Eucalyptus Trees. It also is part of the unesco world heritage.

On this photo you can see pretty good why they are called the Blue Mountains. The leaves of eucalyptus evaporate the essential eucalyptus oil, whose fine mist lies over the mountains. In addition to Rayleigh scattering, this fine mist is responsible for the blue color in daylight

In total we´ve spent 3 days walking through the valley of this breathtaking piece of nature, climbed hundreds of steps and saw some beautiful and interesting wildlife including many different species of birds, insects and snakes. And yet we haven´t seen a third of this Nationalpark. This is why I want to go back there as soon as possible. Hopefully we get the chance next year!

Wow, the last insect close-up is so cool! I have never seen this creature, not even anything similar :D

me neither. I think it´s a kind of a cricket or something like that.

@phortun It's called a Cicada, we used to catch them as kids, they have different colours like Green Grocers, Brown Bombers, Black Knights (the one pictured I think is a Yellow Monday) - they are harmless insects but very beautiful and fascinating to hold for young children. @betterthanhome beautiful photos of the blue mountains, did you like the vertical train ride?

thanks for the follow up @alphaccino.art. So these are the insect which make that deafening sound which made me dizzy?!

I haven´t been on that train but I took the 900 vertical steps from the bottom of the three sisters. 😁

yes, that would be them... incredibly deafening
and on second look, I realised your photo was of the stairs rather than the railway but it is a beautiful shot. The train is good if you are with children but you didn't miss anything that you couldn't see from the stairs and it's a much better experience from the stairs IMO

Ihr habt sehr schöne Fotos vom Blue Mountains Nationalpark
gemacht.
