Lamington Nationalpark Part 1 - Lower Bellbird Circuit
Finally, after almost 8 weeks in Australia we´ve found the time to visit one of the bigger Nationalparks. That´s one reason why we´re here and why we love that country so much...for it´s nature.
We´ve spent the weekend in the Lamington Nationalpark in the hinterland of the Gold Coast, and it was awesome.
We did 2 bigger walks, explored the region and had an absolutely beautiful accommodation which will get their own post.
Nach fast 8 Wochen in Australien haben wir endlich die Zeit gefunden, einen der größeren Nationalparks zu besuchen. Das ist ein Grund, warum wir hier sind und warum wir dieses Land so sehr lieben ... für seine Natur.
Wir haben das Wochenende im Lamington Nationalpark im Hinterland der Gold Coast verbracht, und es war fantastisch.
Wir machten 2 größere Wanderungen, erkundeten die Region und hatten eine absolut schöne Unterkunft, die ihren eigenen Posten bekommen wird.
We´re both not the best hikers, yet decided to do a 12km walk on the first morning. We went on the Lower Bellbird Circuit. a circuit with 12km and the option of 3km more which will take you approximately 4hours. The Track got his name for the variety of birds.
We started quite early in the morning as it was going to be a hot day. The first few kilometers reminded me of a pretty ordinary european forest with nothing really spectacular. But at least we were finally back in the nature.
Before you enter the Forest you get asked to disinfect your shoes. Haven´t seen something like this before, but of course we followed the instructions.
Wir sind beide nicht die besten Wanderer, entschieden sich jedoch am ersten Morgen für einen 12 km langen Spaziergang. Wir gingen auf den Lower Bellbird Circuit. Ein Rundkurs mit 12 km Länge und einer Option von 3 km, für die Sie ca. 4 Stunden benötigen. The Track erhielt seinen Namen für die Vielfalt der Vögel.
Wir haben ziemlich früh am Morgen angefangen, da es ein heißer Tag werden würde. Die ersten Kilometer erinnerten mich an einen ziemlich normalen europäischen Wald mit nichts wirklich spektakulärem. Aber zumindest waren wir endlich wieder in der Natur.
Bevor Sie den Wald betreten, werden Sie aufgefordert, Ihre Schuhe zu desinfizieren. Ich habe so etwas noch nicht gesehen, aber wir folgten natürlich den Anweisungen.
After about 30mins of walking we were already wondering if it will be like this the whole 12km or if it will change. Because until that we were a bit disappointed. No birds, no breathtaking nature or view point.
But suddenly we entered a beautiful big clearing with some signs.
Nach etwa 30 Minuten haben wir uns schon gefragt, ob es die ganzen 12km so sein wird oder ob es sich ändern wird. Denn bis dahin waren wir etwas enttäuscht. Keine Vögel, keine atemberaubende Natur oder Aussichtspunkt.
Aber plötzlich betraten wir eine schöne große Lichtung mit einigen Schildern.
From there on we went deeper and deeper into the forest. The circuit passes through a patch of dry rainforest, regarded as an example of the rise of the dry adapted flora now widespread in Australia.
The deeper we went into the forest, the bigger the trees became. And finally we were in the middle of rainforest. There was nobody on the road except us and apart from the sounds of the rainforest nothing was heard.
Von da an gingen wir tiefer und tiefer in den Wald hinein. Der Rundlauf durchläuft einen trockenen Regenwald, der als Beispiel für den Aufstieg der in Australien weit verbreiteten trockenen angepassten Flora gilt.
Umso tiefer wir in den wald gingen umso größer wurden die bäume. Und endlich waren wir mittem in Regenwald. Es niemand unterwegs außer uns und außer den Geräuschen des Regenwaldes war nichts zu hören.

At one point we finally could hear all the birds. The sounds of all the different birds was just amazing. We were standing there and closed our eyes and heard nothing but the birds singing

An einem Punkt konnten wir endlich alle Vögel hören. Die Geräusche all der verschiedenen Vögel waren einfach unglaublich. Wir standen da und schlossen die Augen und hörten nichts als die Vögel singen

After another few kilometers through the Rainforest we reached the first viewing point, the Yangahla Lookout. From here we had a brilliant view over the mountains and the valley.
Nach wenigen Kilometern durch den Regenwald erreichten wir den ersten Aussichtspunkt, den Yangahla Lookout. Von hier aus hatten wir einen herrlichen Blick über die Berge und das Tal.
Here we took a break and had a little bite since we were already getting tired. I told you we´re not good walkers.
We then continued our walk back into the Rainforest. We were still walking downhill and the trees and cliffs were getting bigger and bigger. Apart from the birds we encountered many other species of wildlife I will show you in a extra post. But so much has already been said, the animal and plant world here is really amazing.
We reached a sign which told us that we´re only 3.7km away from the end of the walk, but the rest of the walk was uphill so it wasn´t that easy.
Hier machten wir eine Pause und aßen etwas, da wir schon müde wurden. Ich habe euch gesagt, dass wir keine guten Wanderer sind.
Dann gingen wir weiter in den Regenwald. Wir gingen immer noch bergab und die Bäume und Klippen wurden immer größer. Abgesehen von den Vögeln haben wir noch viele andere Tierarten gesehen, die ich euch in einem zusätzlichen Beitrag zeigen werde. Aber soviel sei schon einmal gesagt, die Tier und Pflanzenwelt hier ist wirklich der Wahnsinn.
Wir erreichten ein Schild, das uns mitteilte, dass wir nur 3,7 km vom Ende der Wanderung entfernt sind, aber der Rest der Wanderung ging bergauf, sodass es nicht so ganz einfach wurde.

We then reached one last Viewing Plattform before we made it out of the Rainforest. The view was actually the same but from a different angle.
Dann erreichten wir eine letzte Aussichtsplattform, bevor wir aus dem Regenwald herauskamen. Die Ansicht war eigentlich die gleiche, aber aus einem anderen Blickwinkel.
We finally made it out of the rest after a bit over 4hours of walking with some breaks in between. We were really happy that we made it although our faces tell a different story.
Nach etwas mehr als vierstündigem Gehen und einigen Pausen dazwischen haben wir es endlich geschafft. Wir waren wirklich glücklich, dass wir es geschafft haben, obwohl unsere Gesichter eine andere Geschichte erzählen.

thanks, really appreciate it @khufu. The sound was more like that from a cat, that´s were the name of the bird is coming from. But who knows, maybe it was Donald Duck! 😁
