More Sights of Guadalajara, Contributed by @TangerineTravels

in #travel6 years ago

A few days ago we arrived in Guadalajara and we've had some opportunities to expore some of the city. Guadalajara (GDL) is the capital of the state of Jalisco and is the the second most populated city in Mexico.

While driving here, we've found the city to be easier to navigate and drive in than a lot of other Mexican cities. The roads make sense, there aren't unmarked speed bumps, and there aren't any strange quirks like we've found in other cities.

While walking around, we've come across quite a few parks and green areas, which is always a nice to get a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

In the middle of this small park, you could find the entrance to a metro/subway station. Any other metro entrance I've ever seen has been along a busy (and usually dirty) street, so it was neat to see it in the middle of a park.

We came out of Mercado Libertad and found this fountain among several other nearby fountains. The blooming purple trees were a nice touch in the background. Does anyone know what kind of tree they might be?

After the seeing a couple of fountains, we ran into some cool-looking architecture of various old buildings. This part of GDL is called Liberacion Square. Even the benches here are ornate!

With many of these shots, it was difficult to get far enough back in order to get these enormous buildings into the view of the camera. With the lack of modern-day technology, it's hard to imagine how many man hours went into building these massive structures!

The people in this shot give you a good idea of the sheer size of this building. There was a fountain behind me here which kept me from getting the whole church in view of the camera.

We have a lot more of this city to see and we'll hopefully get some more photos to share. In the meantime, we're posting new videos of adventures every. single. day. Thank you for the beautiful photo and story!

Cool. Guadalajara seems like a very historical place. A walk around the town would be a great experience — making you visit other places and interact with the locals. I think that’s why traveling is so much fun and full of learnings. :)

Not everyone said we'd like it, but it's been a great city to explore! Very similar to the United States in many ways.
