Dreaming of Our Next Island Vacation

Where do You Want to Go on Vacation?

Every year we go down south in the winter for a tropical vacation. We are trying to visit most countries and find our favourite place, it's so tough to decide since everywhere we go, we love for one reason or another. Been to the Bahamas, Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Roatan (Honduras) and various places in Europe and Asia. This year it's going to be something different. The plan is to eventually retire and go back to the places we love for extended periods of time, the ideal spot will be somewhere in the Carribean or Central America.

Inspired by #ReggaeSteem, some friendly people and a little research; this time I'm thinkin' of a Jamaican vacation. There are a few other places at the top of our list, it's going to be a simple one week vacation within a 5-hour flight which is perfect because Toronto - Montego Bay is 4 hrs and 5 minutes. We aren't the all-inclusive type so there have to be many options nearby any hotel or resort. I love Jamaican food so it's probably not too difficult to find hundreds of options within a reasonable walk of most places.

This is an ideal place to eat, we found this guy next to our hotel in Nassau, Bahamas. There's enough fancy dining in Toronto and I like something authentic, not some over-priced restaurant or all-inclusive buffet. Most vacations we just sit down at beachfront restaurants or eat at local joints. I do like breakfast at the hotel but that's about it. We don't need all-inclusive drinks either because I'm not above supporting the local shops and pouring my own drinks, there's also less of a temptation to overindulge.

Why Negril Jamaica?

Don't need much convincing, close friends and family have been to Negril and love it. @donald.porter and #ReggaeSteem already had me convinced. I can see if having lots of #jahm will be useful down there and at the very least be able to ask locals questions before my trip. It would be a great bonus to meet with a fellow Steemian for a drink or some sightseeing beforehand.

Have to Convince my Partner

There are so many options, Cayman Islands, St.Kitts and Saint Lucia to name a few. Why go to Jamaica when there are other luxurious destinations nearby? We aren't worried about the safety, a few months ago we were in El Salvador and had no issues, besides there are travel warnings about the USA right now, lol. It's all about marketing, we love nature and unique experiences. There's someplace you can feed hummingbirds, those famous diving cliffs, some natural springs, jungle, hills, and the beautiful 7-mile beach. It actually didn't take much convincing, after about one minute, it was "I want to go to Jamaica!!!

This is one of the famous places in Negril where everyone goes to jump off the cliffs or watch others do it. They have the beautiful beach, the relaxing local dining spots, the jungle, nature, waterfalls, and every other tropical island activity. I'm going to see if I can get some direction from #ReggaeSteem to help plan our specific activities and am open to almost anything. Bonus if you could figure out something for my companion to-do while I go golfing, scuba diving or ATVing. We're open to all sorts of suggestions.

Hope a Jamaican Vacation Soon Becomes a Reality

It would be amazing if #Jahm was actually useful down there, it would make it the best token on https://steem-engine.com/ we have about 6-8 months to find out. If in fact, I do go down there, I'll definitely be blogging about the entire experience so you can all find out.

Tell me about your favourite place in the Carribean or Central America

Please let me know in the comments below and I'll give you a big JAHM upvote! You must have actually been there. Thanks for reading

I spent last winter in Puerto Rico.. that was pretty fun.. I'd like to go to Guam next..

Heard good things about Guam, it's a little far from Toronto though. How was Puerto Rico?

Very fun.. very relaxing.. I had a condo on the beach in Aguada.. the people are awesome.. Rincon was right up the street. Good times.

Love this post bro!

Currently JAHM is accepted @miyard and we also have @thrillertours (thrillertoursjamaica.net) a fully licensed tour provider to intro soon. Making the connections take a bit more time than the platform roll out as it takes face to face meetings etc and also JAHM/Steem merchant items like QR sheets are in works.

At the moment members can redeem rooms at about a dozen hotels in Negril, info is available at ReggaeSteem.com/tourism, in most cases give us 30days notice. A side affect is that means Steem is also accepted.

Perfect timing with Steem light accounts and wallets in the works, we will have merchants ready.

Get here as soon as you can, that last pic at Ricks Cafe (located on the majestic cliffs of West End, Negril ;) is literally 5mins away from me rn...

Let’s have a 🍻 !BEER

Sounds great, we can perhaps try a few of the best hotels on your list depending on the availability, this wouldn't be until early 2020 regardless. Something like the falls/river/rum factory tour is exactly what we are looking for, along with maybe a snorkeling/diving tour. A private/semi-private driver for a day is also good cause I don't like waiting for groups and prefer customization.

Gonna save up that #JAHM. and can't wait to have a !beer

Sounds like a plan, we’ll get you a private driver... let us know when and consider it done bro

Y’all are gonna have so much fun in Jamaica ! I can’t wait to see the blogs and maybe vlogs. By then the keychain mobile app should be out too , man it’s gonna be an interesting time for yah

Who knows, maybe it will be our vacation place

Hoped you get to retire sooner than later. :-)

Definitely won't be working for someone else to 65

Most of the islands in the Caribbean are quite the same. It is good to come down and enjoy the warm weather.

I like Jamaican food the best
