Nomadic Nuggets! Little Bright-Orange Lighthouse. (Original Photos)

in #travel6 years ago

Hi guys. Coming in late tonight... or early tomorrow. Whichever way you want to look at it. Either way, I can say for sure that it's time for a little Nomadic Nugget! This come comes from the Westfjords of Iceland. While poking around in the northern village of Bolungarvík, we decided to check out an old road that was abandoned around a decade ago because a newer tunnel made it obsolete. Right near the beginning of that road, we found this little bugger:

I'm not one of those "lighthouse people"; you know, the ones who go crazy for them... but I did think this one was pretty cool. It was so little and such a bright orange. It reminded me of a tic-tac of the lighthouse world.

^^^Bolungarvík is one of the northern most towns in Iceland, which probably puts it pretty high in the running for northern most towns in all of Europe.(SOURCE)
It also has a longitude of 66°, which you'll see on clothing all over if you go to Iceland. There is an outdoorsy clothing company there that goes by the name. You can get a slightly better view of the town in this photo:

Cool! I've always loved the brightness of the colors used in northern towns and villages... whether it's Nuuk in Greenland, little towns in the Lofoten Islands in Norway; Icelandic villages.

Man, Greenland is very hight on my list of places to go. This summer we went to Newfoundland and saw the giant icebergs that come to shore... now I want to go see where they're made!

What a colourful lighthouse. Love it! Lovely landscape too.

TicTac! Hahaha Perfect lighthouse description!
