Nomadic Nuggets! Upside-Down House. (Original Photos)
Good afternoon friends and beloved followers. I've only got a few minutes to write something up here tonight, so it's a perfect opportunity to post another Nomadic Nugget! This time it's a house we came across in small portuguese town that looking a little.... odd.
This goofy thing is located in the small village of Furnas on the island of Sao Miguel. Now, the truth of the matter is that it isn't a house at all. I mean, I guess that's not really a surprise. It's way too small to be a house and, well, it's upside down.
It turns out that it's just a fancy/attractive/interesting way to cover an electrical hub. You know, one of those big transformer things you see every now and then along the road? Maybe they're a booster station or something? I don't know what they are really. But anywho, that's what this upside-down house is for.

Ha! Seriously. Something like this would probably do great as an Air B&B or something though. People would probably love to spend a night or two in a wonky house like that.

That’s so wonderful! I thought it was just an art piece, but it’s even more! How creative to cover an eyesore with something fun! In the US we turn big ugly cell phone towers into pine trees and palm trees.....it’s still ugly...but in a hilarious way because they’re usually way taller than the normal trees or they’re standing alone not close to any other real trees. Haha.
I agree. I love functional art. I've seen some of those "disguised" cellphone towers too. lol I don't see too many of them on the east coast here, but I remember seeing some out west. I even saw one in the south west that was done up to look like a MASSIVE cactus. lol

It looks like somebody had fun giving people something out of the ordinary to talk about. I wonder how many nicknames it has. All in good fun.
What an interesting construction, that would be some architect who didn't like to see that the transformer center in that villa, is very creative and great.
