Welcome to my 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - North American Friday - where the winner of the weekly round will be able to participate for the total of 200 SBD!
Today, you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to the continent of North America.

Half Dome @ Yosemite National Park. During our honeymoon we stopped at Yosemite for 3 days. Awesome experience to visit this hilarious beautiful place on heaven earth. Nature at its best. The famous Half Dome, featured in one of the most recognized photographs ever taken by Ansel Adams, is not also a nice object to photograph but also a famous climbing stop for the best in the word.

Your entries need to be submitted by 8 AM Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.
Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

"Gampoeng Jawa" is a coastal area of "KotaBanda Aceh", this beach is there after the 2004 tsunami that hit Aceh, the beach is also crowded visitors when the weekend arrives, and on this beach activities "Fishermen" and sunset is the scenery that is always presented to the visitors.

Queensland Sunset. When travelling up Australia's East Coast, I was lucky to get on a rideshare with some awesome people. We drove all the way from Sydney to Airlie Beach in a week; On our last night camping, we saw this awesome sunset from the campground we were staying at.

Last week we spent vacation time in one of the most famous beaches in Aceh, namely the beach of Lhoknga aceh, Indonesia. The ocean of Lhoknga beach directly opposite the Indian Ocean is very beautiful when the sun sets. then no wonder many local and foreign tourists who travel to this beach.

Photo is from Chobe National Park in Botswana, where we took sundowner cruise on the river and really enjoyed our time. We had great captain, who stayed in the park really until the last time and gave us opportunity to see that beautiful sunset with elephants for cherry on the top.

This is another photo of Civita di Bagnoregio, the dying city, or the Jewel on the Hill as described by Rick Steve. This place used to be a bustling town during the Medieval times, and apparently used to be much bigger. Unfortunately erosion and earthquake means that the hill started to shrink in size, buildings fell of the cliff and people started to move away. Nowadays it is mainly a tourist attraction. The permanent population at Civita is only about a 100 in summer and can drop to a mere 7 during winter.

This photo is hot off the presses, taken about 20 minutes ago (5:15am) as the sun began to rise over Hollywood, CA. I love being a morning person and getting the chance to see incredible sunrises like this one. I took this from the fire escape stairs on the floor of my building facing east. The church in the photo is the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood.

Located on the Niagara River, some 17 miles (27 km) north-northwest of Buffalo, New York, USA and 75 miles (121 km) south-southeast of Toronto, Canada, the Niagara Falls are among the most famous and visited waterfalls in the world. Except for being one of the most recognized natural landmarks in North America, they also serve as a major source of hydroelectric power. I took this image on a cloudy summer day in 2010.

For this picture at the Niagara Falls I used the full zoom range of my lens and exposed for 5 seconds. For a fee you can reach this viewpoint and enjoy a view of the Horseshoe Falls from below. It's called "journey behind the falls"

Politics aside, Washington D.C. can be a chaotic place. Masses of tourists and school groups clog the sidewalks, presidential motorcades snarl traffic, and unpredictable weather can ruin even the best laid plans. Visiting the well known monuments and museums can turn into an exhausting affair - unless you're willing to be creative. Wake up early or stay up late and you will be richly rewarded. It's during these semi-deserted off hours that D.C.'s beauty really shines.

Winter evening in BC.
Winter evening, with low light watching the sun go down. With low-angle light the snow catches our closest star's rays and makes everything pink. This photo from the northern part of North America looking out over the Pacific makes me think of those cold snowy days...

Akaka Falls on Hawaii
This impressive waterfall is located on Big Island, Hawaii. After I had visited the falls, I had the plan hitchhike a circuit around the north of the island. I got super lucky and the first driver who picked me up had the same plan and was even staying in the same hostel as me, so he drove me around all day!

This Scenic Byway road 12 in Utah, USA is one of the nicest roads I had ever driven through. Our starting point this day was Bryce NP and final destination was Moab. Both destinations are great, but the road in between offers you amazing scenery and it is definitely worth taking time for slow drive through.

Highway 12 is THE most beautiful road I have ever seen!
Yes, I probably made a mistake, when I put Highway 12 among the nicest, because it deserve to be right on the top of my list :)
That ride must be magnificent.
This is one of my favorite locations for sunrise, sunset, and for astrophotography. You can drive around the entire lake and there are plenty of places to camp out and do family activities. You are looking at Mt. Hood from Trillium Lake which is located in Oregon.

This place is rows and rows of gorgeous flowers.
We make it a point to go every year.

This is along the Seward Highway near Girdwood Alaska. One of my favorite stretches along the Turnagain Arm Peninsula. During the 1964 earthquake the sea came up quick and killed off all the trees near the water and are still standing today. It's an eerily beautiful sight.
