Doorway Through Time. Ancient Oceans deposited this layered sedimentation of red sand, hundreds of millions of years ago. Once solidified the formation of the Rocky Mountains lifted up this area called the Colorado Plateau. That was around 50 million years ago! Since then the erosive forces of nature have been at work. Creating the art of the Southwest!

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Asian Sunday week #81 - winner announcement!

@sinochip Asian Sunday entry:

Halong Bay is probably a must visit in you're in northern Vietnam. So being a first time visit I did what all tourist did, even though I hate doing that. I took a cruise out to Halong Bay, boarded a smaller boat, toured around the limestone structures, watched how the locals live on their boats and finally went to Dong Thien Cung to look at the stalactites and stalagmites. All very touristy. Here's a photo I took when I was inside Dong Thien Cung, and I have to admit, it was quite remarkable inside.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Australian Monday week #81 – winner announcement!

@fotogruppemunich Australian Monday entry:

I took the picture of the skyline of Sydney from the Overseas Passenger Terminal at the harbour. I tried to find another perspective to photograph the city. If you look at the picture in large you can even see some stars in the sky.

Incredibly transparent sea with the colorful sign "Holbox" in the foreground. Holbox is a beautiful island in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located on the north coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. It is approximately 41.84 kilometres (26 miles) long and 1.5 kilometres (0.9 miles) wide, and it is separated from the mainland by 10 km of shallow lagoon that is home to flamingos, pelicans and other rich birdlife.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - African Wednesday week #81 - winner announcement!

@crazy-andy African Wednesday entry:

Photo is from Mahango National Park in Namibia at the start of Caprivi area. I was there in 2015. That afternoon we took a boat cruise and it ended with typical, but sensational African scene. Sunset with two hippos and bush at the riverbank makes my memory on that day fabulous.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday week #81 - winner announcement!

@jpphotography European Thursday entry:

Fountain in Copenhagen, Denmark. When I visited Copenhagen for the first time in 2017, it was raining all day and despite the impressive architecture I could not leave fast enough. When I came back last year, I got very lucky with the weather and had a fantastic day in this beautiful city.

Night view of the famous Campeche Cathedral (the full name of this impressive piece of architecture is The Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral). Built between 1540 and 1760, the cathedral is located on the Constitution Square in the very historic center of the city of Campeche, Yucatan, Mexico.

Playa del Carmen is a city located along the Caribbean Sea in the municipality of Solidaridad, in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. It is a popular tourist area in eastern Mexico. The town has become one of the fastest to grow in population size in Mexico.

Taken In the foothills entering Kananaskis County Alberta. This quiet part of the Rockies is a retreat from everyday life, 30 km between each phone (only 2 available) with no internet or cell reception or anything electronic anywhere, it's the perfect place to decolonize for a few days and get back in touch with nature. We spent almost a week there with nothing but ourselves exploring the landscape. Tons of trails to be hiked and mountain tops to reach.

Arriving at Santiago de Cuba

When I visited Cuba at Christmas/New Year's 2015, the tourist infrastructure was at the brinck of collapse: A seat in a tourist bus had to be booked several days in advance, while faster buses for Cubans were not allowed to take foreigners. Unwilling to give up my flexibility and with the added benefit of saving some money, I crossed Cuba taking only local transport. After I had travelled from Havana to Camaguey in the center of Cuba in several local trucks, I finally managed to take a night train from there to Santiago de Cuba where I was greeted by this sunrise.

My apologies, I think I understand now. Please disregard my other comment. This is a picture my wife and I took during he Scenic Drive through Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a 13 mile drive that only costs $15 USD and gives you full access to the park for the day. It is a really beautiful area that everyone should take the time to visit if they find themselves in Vegas. You can check out my blog for the full post with more great pictures!

First Nite in White Pocket - Arizona
This photograph is really special to me. I took it on my very first trip to White Pocket. When i first lay foot on these grounds i was sooooo overwelmed by its diversity in shape and color. There was this puddle but yet a little wind so the reflection is not perfect. Yet i find it so cool.

This is one of the very first photos that i took there. During the 30sec. exposure i lit up the mountains with a LED-Lenser X21.r.2 to actually get to see it in the photograph at the end. The camera was on ISO 400 and the lens on F4 16mm.

Good old Arizona, one amazing place after another! Beautiful shot!

It's so amazing. I totally wanna go this year again. I wish I could just beam over there some times.

I took my picture in Chicago in 2015 it shows the Millennium Park. In order to show this beautiful place better I decided for a panorama so the size can be shown better. We could also observe a yogga course there. A good place to find rest.

Old post office in Mojave desert

Driving through the Mojave desert is a unique experience. The heat and dry air makes you feel like you're in a movie. Especially when seeing an old abandoned post office, makes you think back about the time when this area was still alive. People actually lived in this area and used this post office. Nice memories.

The owl is a symbol of the feminine, the moon, and the night. It has been called a cat with wings. Showing no fear, this burrowing owl stands about 10 inches tall and hunts during the day but mostly at night.
This image was captured on 4-3-2019 in northern Arizona USA.

Is it okay if I just share my post here? If not please direct me where I should do it. I have never participated in this challenge before, but I recently took a trip out west with my wife and got some awesome pictures!
