Exploring Singapore via Subway Train

Good day Steemians! I would like to share my recent travel experience in one of the best cities in the world, Singapore. And when it's Singapore, definitely these places will come to your mind, the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands, Botanical Garden, their world class Changi Airport, the Universal Studios Singapore and a lot more.

I will share first my tour around the city using their subways. In Singapore, subway trains are the most common mode of public transportation. At first, it was hard to understand the train map. It was a bit confusing since we didn't experience riding a public train here in Cebu. But the locals gladly helped us with the directions and we eventually figured that one out. We stayed in The Hive Hostel at the intersection of Serangoon Road and Lavender Street. The hostel was a bit pricey. Or mahal ra jud ang Singapore. The nearest train station in our place is the Boon Keng Station. You can purchase for a one-time use card or you can get an EZ card for $12 (P480). $5 for the card which is non-refundable and $7 for the amount inside the card which you can use it in any LRT or MRT train stations. The one-time purchase of the card is a bit hassle and expensive since you need to buy ticket Everytime you hope from stations to stations. Apart from that, you need to pay an additional $0.1 for every card you get. For the EZ card, you can use it anytime for as long as you still have enough fund. If you have insufficient fund, you can top up or reload your card at the nearest loading kiosk located inside the station. A minimum of $10 for topping up the card and if there is still fund inside the card you can get the amount back. Just go to the station personnel and present your passport. The $5 is non-refundable but you can still use the card everytime you wish to visit back to Singapore.

For our first train ride in Singapore, we took the violet line or the North East line going to Little India which is a station away from Boon Keng station. Then we got off the train and transfer to another line, the blue line or the Downtown line and stop at Bugis Station. If you ask where to buy cheap souvenirs like keychains, ref magnets, T-shirts, etc. just go across the station and look for Bugis Street. There you can choose a lot of Singapore-design pasalubongs. We bought 24 pieces of keychains for $10 or P400. There were also nice Singapore print shirts and bags to choose from. If you're madiskarte and you buy more, they will give you discount or they will give additional souvenir.
