The Dilapidated City. Shilov's Lane

in #travel6 years ago

Vasily Shilov is a merchant from Veliky Ustyug who was engaged in fishing for fur, and later opened one of the Aleutian Islands with his team of navigators.

The street and Shilov's Lane are located at the very beginning of the second part of the city, right behind the Smolnikovo Lake, which divides the city into two parts. If you look at the map, this place will be almost the very center of Veliky Ustyug.

Shilov's Lane adjoins Shilov Street perpendicularly. In the alley there are two-story wooden apartment buildings. This type of houses is only here and in Factory lane (about which I will tell you another time).

A few years ago, this lane was one of the darkest for me. Such a sensation was caused by thick tall poplars. But the authorities, using to the program for cutting these dangerous trees in the city, made this lane cozy.

Now only birch trees grow here.

Take a look at the autumn photo of 2012: the roads here were such that even an SUV could get stuck!

Now in an alley put things in order, the roads were covered with rubble and gradered.
In the courtyards, of course, there were puddles, but this is already a trifle - they are everywhere!

And in the courtyards preserved huge old two-story barns.

Yards are the most common. Practically nothing distinguishes them from the rest of the set.

Shilov's Lane does not have a through passage.

But if you really want to, you can go through the courtyard of this house, which is located at the very end of the alley and is registered on completely different streets: the corner of Kopylov and Uglovsky.

In every street in one of the courtyards there is always a broken abandoned car.

And there is always an expensive foreign car, standing next to the hut and barns.

It has everything on other streets. Without the usual garages also not done.

Along the lane you can reach the Smolnikovo Lake, where scenic views will open up.

The children's art school is located on the corner of Shilov Street and lane in the building of the merchant Zakharov. This is the only stone building in the Shilov's lane.
