Travel Blog 34: Your Ultimate Guide To Universal Studio Singapore (Part 1)

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Whether or not you've been or haven't been to an amusement park like Disneyland or Universal Studio, it's no doubt that you'll ask the same old question. "Is it worth it to visit the place?"

Well, this is a very personal question where I am unable to provide you the exact answer. Clearly, we all set a distinctive perspective and different level of satisfaction. However, thanks to my unlimited entry annual pass to Universal Studio Singapore, I am able to collect some of the tips & tricks to help you out on your next trip.

It's no surprise that Singapore is the second home for many Malaysians. USS always comes to their mind for a weekend trip, mainly because this is the closest country that has a theme park beside the one in Japan. Knowing that the Singaporean currency wasn't the cheapest, maximizing the play time within the theme park definitely sounds reasonable. After all, no one wouldn't want a good return on their investment too right?

Lucky for you, I've compiled a list of attractions that you must visit for your next trip.

Honestly, with such a big theme park, it's pretty hard to finish visiting every single attraction. I would highly recommend you to purchase the express pass to skip the queue. This way I can ensure you that visiting all of the attractions are not a problem at all.

Besides that, going to a theme park is like a fairytale come true. Every corner is so instagrammable. If you are into photography and excitement, strap in your camera and get ready to shoot. This place is absolutely a heaven for you. However, do expect that the theme changes all the time according to the latest trend. For example, Christmas, Smurfs, Trolls, and, etc.

If you're the first timer, I would recommend that you minimize spending too much time on the main street even though there are plenty of performances happening. Head directly to the main attraction like "The Mummy", "Transformers" and "Far-Far-Away Castle" to avoid the massive crowd especially in the afternoon. Stroll around the street for photos and to take a break from all the exciting roller-coaster rides.

Personally, I always start with the most exciting and thrilling one to spike up my excitement. The is the Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon which is recorded to be the tallest dueling coasters in the world. While my favorite is definitely the "Cylon coaster" which is designed with the inspiration of a Cylon Raider where the tracks are suspended from any platform with intense maneuvers. Different inversions like a Cobra-roll, Zero-g roll, vertical loops and different corkscrews-like loops.

For excitement seeker, this roller-coaster features 5-metre deep pit plunge filled with artificial fog to create an illustration of a free falling effect. If it's not enough, the roller-coaster also includes sudden turns close to the buildings to emphasize the sensation of a near miss. This roller-coaster is definitely not for any faint-hearted person. Try it if you dare!

The Sci-fi city is definitely the favorite for most of the thrill-seekers. Besides the Cylon, Transformer is one of the highly recommended attractions that you shouldn't miss. However, please be aware that there will always be an extremely long queue where it's as long as 3 hours queuing time. Be quick to get in line if the waiting time is less than 40 minutes for a normal pass. If you're an express pass holder, don't bother the waiting time. You'll be just fine!

Switch up your outdoor roller coaster mood to something fun and quirky at the same time. This Transformers Ride features a 3D ride with a battle storyline where the Autobots attempt to protect the Allspark from Decepticons. If you're a big fan of Transformers, I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about.

This dark ride performs a ride 6D motion ride with various three-dimensional projections. To amplify the thrilling intensity, the ride comprises different exciting effects like 180° spins, hot air, and fog to generate the illusion of an explosion, quick reverse motions, blasting wind and suction to blend into the storyline.

The other highlight is "The Revenge of The Mummy"! No one leaves USS without riding it. This roller-coaster is nearly identical to the one in Floride which makes it a perfect excuse for you to try it out. You don't even need to travel especially to Florida for this. Sounds like a win isn't it?

IMG_7180.JPG

If you are familiar with the movie, the story emphasized on finding a cursed book in a mummy's tomb and destroys it. While this roller-coaster is designed perfectly to suit the theme with dark and spooky interior design. The special sound effect and the into details carvings on the wall definitely give you goosebumps. Different effects and decorations like a mountain of glittery treasures, instant acceleration from 0 to 40 miles in a split second and also a backward drop with a 180° degree circle.

Again, please be aware that this indoor coaster is not for faint-hearted and it will definitely give you jitter down your spine. However, the only down part I had with this is definitely the queue. The queue doesn't slow down at any time and sometimes even though you're an express pass holder.

Head down to the Jurassic Park for a water splashes coaster ride. Be prepared to bring your raincoat around as this coaster is promised that you'll get wet during the ride. The intense chase from the dinosaur forces the riders on the raft escape to an emergency hydroelectric plant. During the escape, the plant defects and forces the raft falls down a slope from a height of 40 feet and hits the water, drenching the riders.

Look out for the showtime for "Waterworld" to witness an action-packed stunt based on the blockbuster film. A series of thrilling actions that include real fire explosions, fire burns and different actions from skilled jetski riders. This real-life performance is absolutely sensational. Try to watch out the time as this performance is not frequently showed.

IMG_7166.JPG

Take a break from all these thrilling activities for a more relaxing ride at "Puss In Boots Giant Journey" coaster. The magnificent looking designed coaster is embedded within an artificial tower that many have seen in the movie of "Shrek". Even though this is not those exciting rides that you will experience, but it's definitely good enough for you to relax and enjoy the view at the surrounding. Also, this is a perfect ride if you're here with a family. Kids will definitely love it!

End your day by visiting the souvenir shops for your favorite animation characters. From tumblers to the headband, you name it you'll get it. Even though it is on the pricier side, but, it's definitely nice to visit for a photo or two.
