One door closes and another opens
Have you ever lost something you once possessed but, on reflection, didn't mind so much? Ok, it happened to me today...I lost my job. I don't mind though and am really quite philosophical about it; One door closes and another opens right? It's the only way to look at it I suppose.
So yep I lost it, figuratively speaking, not literally...But only for a few weeks. I'll find it again when I return from holiday, although I'd probably rather not, and things will fall back into a familiar and well-worn routine but for now...Well guys...It's vacation time!
That's right folks it's finally here! Today was my last day at work for a few weeks and all thoughts of it are lost in the distant past. We're jetting off Sunday but for me vacation starts now!
We are taking Faith's mum to New Zealand, her first overseas trip and somewhat of a celebration of her having survived cancer this year. It's been a shitty year really, and all three of us are keen for a break, some fresh surroundings and vacation vibes!
I'll be posting along the way interwebs connection permitting so if you follow me already you'll get to see some of the sights as well.
This trip is a bit of a first for Faith and I; We've travelled all over the world and seen some amazing things sure, but we've never been across the pond to NZ so we are looking forward to flying some helicopters, cruising Milford Sound, jet boating, hiking and other stuff; But this trip is about my mother in-law and it will be good to share some experiences with her considering her life almost ended earlier this year. She's pretty excited as you can imagine which is cool too.
Anyway, as you can probably tell I'm feeling pretty good right about now and am looking forward to getting on that plane and winging away to the land of the long white cloud to rub shoulders with those New Zealanders! You can see Faith here looking pretty happy about holidays too...Although this was taken a little while ago on a different holiday.

Didn't really lose my job so don't reply with commiseration's about it. I also wouldn't be blabbing about it here if I did. It was just a figure of speech for the purposes of this post.
Safe travels. That's gotta be one fantastic mother in law. Not sure I'd take mine down the shops for a carton of milk.
Haha, I figured someone would say that! She's pretty cool though. Of course, being the mother in-law, she's has to be a pain in the ass sometimes, but to be honest we get a long really well. Her and Faith are very close and I'd be a total prick if I had issue with taking her which I am not of course.
I also have the patience of a saint...(not really). 🤣

My Mum-inlaw, lost Her short battle. Short-not really, a brutally short but painful and devestatingly long 2 yrs.
I gained more respect for @pooky-jax 's Mom, in the short 15 yrs. I had with Her, Than I ever had for my lifetime failure of a mother.
What a great Mom and friend my Mum-inlaw was.
Cherish every moment with your Ladies. I wish All 3 of You a safe and fun Holiday...!!!!
Thanks for your message mate. This trip is all about my mother in-law and whilst we're doing some cool things, they're al things she wanted to do. We let her select everything. It helps that most are things we would have chosen anyway. It's funny how people a world apart go through similar things huh?

I'll be back at it in a few weeks...But for now it's sitting at about -7 out of 10 on my give-a-fuck scale. It was nice that some of the team gave me a nice holiday-send-off lunch today though...Despite being jealous AF! 😆

I had the same last year but am struggling to find something else and crypto refuses to boom so I can live of my steem gains, lol
but if you are in NZ then hike the Tongariro crossing... its beyond this world
I didn't actually lose my job mate, just all care-factor for it due to my holiday to New Zealand. Thanks for the tip on the hike.

it is still a dream of mine to travel to "ennzed" at some point in my life. I have quite a few friends that live there and the scenery just looks so amazing. I'm a bit envious.

Hey mate I'm not sure where you are, I figure the States, so a long way from NZ. It's supposed to be amazing and we're looking forward to it. I'll have my camera of course, plus my GoPro as well so I'm hoping to get some good snaps (Good by my standards) I'm no photographer but will give it a crack. I'll post along the way. I'm supposed to have wifi at our accommodation so we'll see how that shakes out.
