The Flight Deal - Looking for affordable airline flights?

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

So today at work, I asked a co-worker who I know is always looking for deals about traveling. He has been to a lot of countries from his previous company and has traveled quite a bit for leisure/vacations.

He mentioned that he receives daily emails from 2 sites that he visits which shows him the latest airfare deals. This post will briefly review: The Flight Deal website.

So here is the main page from this evening at 19:00 PST

You can go to the 'about us' section to read up on them. This is a screenshot of what I thought was important regarding their deal flights:

I think that the criteria that they have selected is good as other sites post mediocre fares and some fares you can just do a search for yourself.

So here are a few that I found that sounded like a pretty good deal, all round trip tickets including taxes:
SFO to the Netherlands for $474
SFO to Costa Rica $256
SFO to Madrid, Spain $448
SFO to the US Virgin Islands $342

SFO to Aruba $374
SFO to Mumbai, India $697

SFO to Frankfurt, German $484
SFO to Beijing, China $489

I haven't traveled as much as I'd like and plan to do more traveling in the coming months/years. My next trip may be to Japan on a tour as I'm pretty sure I'd get lost if I rented a car and just drove around.

So you can sign up for the daily email deals which is what my co-worker does. When he sees a good deal to a place of interest, he books it. Some of these deals are limited, so it's first come, first served. If your late, you don't get a ticket.

So 'The Flight Deal' makes a little money through affiliate links. When you purchase the flight through their link, they get a small amount. (They need to have some type of monetary gain to sustain the business right?)

If I use this site, I may do another review on the process and if I was successful in obtaining the ticket.
Some people travel fairly cheaply and on a strict budget which is possible, but I would guess hard at times.
You probably need a rental car (unless you plan to travel by train), accommodations and food.

Who has obtained some good fares? A great deal on a vacation package? Travel tips? (Like watch out for thieves at the airport/trains!) I've heard a few stories at work....................
