Blue Juice Krabi (restaurant) cheap and excellent

Blue Juice started out as a hostel that was also a dive center but just like any other company that has attempted to have a dive shop in Krabi-town in the past infinity years, that side of the business failed. However, they changed with the times and are still an excellent guesthouse and also transitioned into focusing on having great food.

What will you find on the menu here? Well they have a bunch of Thai food but seeing as how they are within sight of the night market where all of these items are available for next to nothing, they focus on their nicely crafted western dishes.

While it probably seems odd to say that they make their baked potatoes properly, that is actually one of the upsides because this is just one of those things that Thai restaurants tend to do poorly either by not cooking it enough, or by either boiling or microwaving it into oblivion.

For just 120Baht, you get a very large baked potato with 2 toppings (I chose bacon and cheese) as well as a side salad. 120B is around $3.50 by the way. They also have a fish and chips that is likely the best I have had in this country because the staff were trained by someone who worked in a "Chippy" back in Newcastle. You can substitute mashed potatoes if you don't want the fries.

The mish mash of furniture that doesn't match is a bit strange but don't let that turn you away. The nice music and the chilled out atmosphere is just great. While I was there lots of people were coming in for takeaway and I suppose that is always a sign of a quality.

The cocktail and beer menu was about what you would expect but for 3 hours a night they have buy one get one free for all cocktails and they actually DO know how to make them. This brings the price of your Mai Tai down to less than $2 a glass. I don't know where it could be cheaper than that... i don't know anywhere. Plus they have a really cute and friendly bartender

A friend of mine came in while i was eating and he was getting a pizza for takeaway. It hadn't really occurred to me to order a pizza at a place like this since there are like 20 Italian places in town but I took his word for it and got one to take home. I am seriously impressed with that as well. Also, I have a little friend that is staring at me because she knows that there is still a lot of it left.

So if you find yourself in Krabi-town (and you should, this place is awesome) and are feeling like some foreign food for a change, this place is a must do. I say that not just because I have enjoyed everything I have had there so far, but because it is so much cheaper than a lot of the other restaurants with Western food.
