Welcome back to the best celebrations in the world!
For the people that missed the first editions, travelers always like to be part of something new and unique. Traveling is all about exploring and meeting people as well as creating lasting memories.
Most people that travel don’t plan everything and go with the flow, they depend on other travelers on where to go or you can just make sure you read this post.

Within this topic of my blog I will take to the best celebrations in the world by month, so don’t confuse this post with my other series “the best travel destinations” this one will be more about celebrations hosted all around the world, so be sure not to miss out and enjoy!

Vanilla Festival
The first stop of this post will take you to Papantla to celebrate everything that has something to do with vanilla! The small village of Papantla lies at the heart of Mexico’s vanilla-growing region. The festival celebrates the local produce with drinks, dance and many more activities. You can even buy the local Xanath liqueur and don’t forget to try the ice-cream. However the biggest event during the celebration is a 30 meter pole from were dancers spiral down attached to a rope.

Summer Carnival Rotterdam
Finally I found a fun event to go to this month in the Netherlands, so for all my Dutch friends don’t forget about the Summer Carnival in Rotterdam.
I really like how multicultural the Netherlands is, being from Amsterdam we have people from all over the world, the same is the case with our really nice harbor city Rotterdam. Big communities from Suriname and the Cape Verde Islands bring the atmosphere of their carnival to the streets in Rotterdam. The weeks start with choosing who will be the Queen, who is shown off at the party. The highlight of the celebration is a big parade with music and big fun. So let’s all go to the city off @exyle and enjoy.

La Ducasse Festival
The festival is celebrated every year 57 days after Easter in the town of Mons in Belgium. It is a recognized as one of the Masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity. The feast focusses on two very important parts, the procession and the combat.
The stage a battle between St George and the dragon, representing the battle between good and evil. So if you want to be part of this interesting spectacle head over to Belgium and be part of the audience.

Interactive play in Brazil
You might know it as Bomba meu boi. It’s an interactive play in Brazil that originated in the 18th century that has evolved into a nationwide festival. Used as a form of social criticism, lower class Brazilians mock and criticize those of higher social status. During the celebration there will be a large consumption of Cachaca, an famous alcoholic drink. The play runs from 13th June to the 29th of June. So plenty of time to enjoy while you are in Brazil.

Gawai Dayak
Anybody traveling in Malaysia right now? If so I found something for you to enjoy and visit. This celebration is all about the native people of Sarawak. The festival opens at the chief’s ancestral longhouse with the Muai Antu Rua. The goal is to cast out the spirit of greed. At midnight the gong calls everybody to listen to the chief toast to long life, health and prosperity. After the toast the rice wine is waiting and take part in cultural events such as dancing, blowpipe competitions and cockfights.
