#14 Explore the Hidden Gems in Amsterdam, World Press Photo, The Local picks

Like always I will take you to the best spots in Amsterdam!

Welcome back to this ‘hidden gems’ series of my blog. For the people that don’t know what to expect, it’s simple, I will share the most unique and fun spots in Amsterdam with you. So when you visit this beautiful city you can experience the city like a real local.
The weather is getting better and soon we are able to enjoy my favorite time a year in the city; Summer!
today I will post about the beautiful “the New Church” and the World Press Photo event that is being held there.

De Nieuwe Kerk
The history of the New Church started around 1380 when Willem Eggert gave the ground to the Church. The Church was built in 1409 and in 1435 the expended the Church. So I basically want to give you a understanding on how old the Church is and how old the city center of Amsterdam. Therefore I always tell people you should visit Amsterdam at least once in your live.
Nowadays the Church is been used for exhibitions, art, photography and inspiring guests.
In September the Dalia Lama will visit the Netherlands and he will give an interview in the Church, right now you can visit the World Press Photo event. This event is hosted every year and runs till July 22th.

I really enjoy photography even though I am not a photographer myself at all. I do like it that because of Steemit I am more in to taking pictures and sharing with you. As mentioned today I visited the exhibition of the World Press Photo a really fun option for an hour to enjoy a beautiful Church and a good exhibition at the same time. Very conveniently located right on Damsquare.

Hope you enjoyed this post of the Hidden Gems in Amsterdam. The Exhibition entrance fee is €11 and I would suggest going when the weather is not so nice and weekdays when its less busy. To me it’s a very fun experience is you are into photography and the church location is perfect to stop by for an hour or so.
