Within this topic of my blog I will take to the best celebrations in the world by month, so don’t confuse this post with my other series “the best travel destinations” this one will be more about celebrations hosted all around the world, so be sure not to miss out and enjoy!
Are you ready for the best celebrations in July!

Alphorn festival
For all the people that actually went to the celebrations mentioned in part one, you will still be in Europe right now. I found you another fun festival you can be part of and it’s Switzerland this time.

Its geographical position means that Switzerland is a melting pot of French, German, Austrian and Italian cultures. One famous celebration in Swiss is the international Alphorn Festival! There is Alphorn music off course as well as parades and performances. The main event is all about the horn that were invented to communicate in the mountains over 600 years ago. The highlight of the festival is 150 horn players preforming in an orchestra.

Polo Festival
For the next festival I invite you to watch some polo, not the high-end English polo in the United kingdom but Shandur Polo festival in Pakistan.
The polo game is played at 3,734 meters and is one of the world’s greatest sporting and cultural events. The Polo field in this remote and mountainous part of Pakistan is the highest in the world.
There are thousands of spectators and drinks and music for two days in July this place is really booming.

Vel Festival
Want to see elephants, dancers and drummers in Sri Lanka? Then Vel Festival is for you. The mythic spear with which the Hindu god Murugan vanquished the evil deity Soorapadman is worshipped in Sri Lanka as a symbol of Murugan’s power. This event with great cultural background is something I would love to see one day. I know many travelers are discovering Sri Lanka nowadays so make sure to stick around till the new moon of Adi in July and August to experience something nonwestern.

Torch festival
If you want to be part of something spectacular and are not afraid of fire, the Torch festival is held in July.
In the torch festival, witch is one of the main holidays of the Yi People of Southern China and is also celebrated by other ethnic groups in the region, Every family needs to light a torch and hold it to illuminate the corners in the room and walk around the fields. Why? in order to drive away all the bad luck and pray for the harvest.
The most attractive an fun to visit is the bonfire party.
