What are you planning to do this year that’s intimidating?

Traveling is such an amazing gift and experience! It’s honestly something you just have to do to understand. I am always a little nervous to share the hard and frustrating things that happen b/c i never want to scare anyone from traveling or getting outdoors especially with their kids! I honestly believe that the good outweighs the hard and frustrating stuff. So even though you don’t see it in all our pictures or hear about it all the time from those who do travel or get to do these amazing outdoor adventures I will guarantee you that they have those days too! Our last day on the North Island was one of those days! We had decided to head to Waiheke Island for the day which is a 45 min ferry ride! We left early to get to the dock, but obviously not early enough b/c when we arrived every single parking spot was taken! We drove around for an hour and a half trying to find parking. When a spot did open up a worker who had been hanging out waiting around quickly pulled in (that’s another story 😂)! We finally found parking and ate lunch to catch a later ferry which was around 2 of our kids nap time! Let’s just say the entire ferry ride was meltdown city (sorry to those on the ferry with us 😬)! When we got to the island we had been misinformed about transportation and didn’t want to spend the high cost to go to 1 winery! So we decided to walk to the winery as the directions only said 20 mins! Well, when your kids are tired and you didn’t come prepared to walk up a steep hill! Yeah, the entire day was a little bit of a mess! And the ferry ride back was probably just as bad! BUT that’s life right! We didn’t let it ruin our trip! I think this is probably what people who don’t have kids worry about (and even those with kids), but you get though it and move forward! Both Cory and I have traveled as singles and even as a single traveler we had days like this—days that were frustrating, hard and even lonely, but we got through it and we are better off b/c of those experiences! I know traveling or getting outdoors to hike or camp with kids can be intimidating, but I promise it’s worth it and you won’t regret it!
