Attractions of Dalat: #20 Dinh l

Dinh l is the 1930’s built former home of French Millionaire Robert Clement Bourgery. It stands on a pine covered hilltop about 4km to the south east of the city. Former Emperor of Vietnam Bao Dai bought the mansion in 1949 and made it a summer palace, effectively an escape from the highest temperatures of the year.

It served as an administrative headquarters for the city of Dalat and there are several other buildings in the grounds. An escape tunnel to the helicopter pad was added at a later date.

The palace is one of the original buildings in the French colonial sty;le to be found in and around Dalat. Visitors can dress up on royal costumes to have their photographs taken. It contains a lot of information about the life of Bao Dai and there is a nice coffee shop on the terrace. The gardens here are also worth spending time in.
