Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental

Dumaguete the capital city of Negros Oriental, known to its rich historical stories many decades ago.
Also know as the City of Gentle, Dumagaute from the root word dagit means to capture/catch. Because of the alluring beauty of the city that lure tourist from other countries.

The city is one the place here in Negros with best Universities like Siliman University.
Dumaguete is also a gateway to nearby provinces and island cities like Cebu, Siquijor, Apo island and etc. Then the mode of transportation in Dumaguete are mostly tricycle and motorcycle. Most of the people have their owned motorcycle where in every places you will be seeing hundreds are parked.

This is the only place I see that population of people are nearly the same to the number of motorcycles everywhere.
In the city where I live using helmets are strictly implemented and you will be fine if you fail to wear it. But in Dumaguete that something in contrast officers will possibly approach you for wearing helmet. A kind of absurd thing but it is existed in Dumaguete.

--So if you are a stranger or planning to visit Dumaguete riding your own motorcycle. Better adhere and follow the rules to avoid any troubles.--

People of Dumaguete are speaking Bisaya/Bisdak like Cebu. If you don't know how to speak their native dialect you speak using Tagalog or English. For you to understand what they are saying same the way they should understand you.

If you are a person who loves historical figures and want to discover new things. There are so much available landmarks with hidden stories behind the structures.

As I visited the public plaza I found out that Jose Rizal have a brief history way back in 1896. Where his sculpture is also visible in the said plaza.

Here are the the images of the structure and let me share to you what is imprinted to the marble plaque.

It was written that Jose Rizal really landed and visited the Dumaguete in 1896 together with his wife Josephine Bracken. Then accompanied by her sister and other unknown individuals. His purpose why he visited Dumaguete because of the eye operation intended to the captain of Philippine constabulary. Then leave the place that night in the 10th of August 1898 embarking with the same ferry from Spain.

Second is the Negros Island structure made of concrete cement. It wasn't written when it was created, but this figure is a replica of the whole island of Negros. It is fixed on the ground and I find it interesting because of its shape like what it is really looks like on the map.

The next structure is much more interesting after I've seen a structure of women carrying a huge circle platform. This reminds me of what I've seen in a museum when I was in college. But I can't remember the exact place, I guess this sculpture portrays how empowered are the woman in early years in Dumaguete. This also informs the equality state of women to men are diversified.

The confusing 4 feet below the ground garden at the plaza.

At first sight I am very confused if this an old garden pool, but it seem so impossible because there are hidden pit holes nearby. That it is very impossible as well to contain water. According to my companion @bobbiecayao that garden below was dig by unknown people many years ago as they found out that there are hidden treasure underground. It also seems like a banker that no one knows. The said interesting garden is protected by high cyclone fence to make sure no one will attempt to go down.

Now lets talk about The Vintage Red Fire Truck.

I'm not sure if does anyone of you had seen an old fire truck. It looks so small for a fire truck that can carry at least three full big drums of water based on my estimation. It is manually operated by using the pedal to force the stack water splash to exterminate fire. I'm not sure if this is old fire truck has the ability to totally eliminate a vast affected by fire.
But as part of the history this Vintage Red Fire Truck is very exceptional invention with special role for the past decades.
