Straya: The Land Down Under

When I think of Australia, or Straya as most locals call it, a few things come to mind: Opera House, Great Ocean Road, Uluru, kangaroos and koalas.

Australia is home to more than 500 national parks and has around 50,000 kilometers of spectacular coastline. You can see why it would be impossible to see the country and experience everything it has to offer on a single trip.

My short visit in 2015 got me wanting to explore more of this vast country. With a one year Working Holiday Visa (WHV) I set out to discover Australia's extraordinary landscapes, laid-back cities, pristine beaches, cascading waterfalls, impressive rock formations, and spectacular gorges.

My road trip around Australia, which is a three-part journey, began early this year. First exploring the East Coast from April to June; then The Red Center, Western & South Australia, Victoria and Canberra from July to October. I am currently in the middle of planning the last bit of this grand adventure. In a week I will be returning to Tasmania. For much longer this time. I can't wait to share all about it.

I am overwhelmed by the support guys!

The one in Watarrka NP, NT is kinda scary and you're about to go closer to the edge in the picture. 😮

I was there with her. I was suppose to go next so that she could take a picture of me on the same spot but I didn't go through it because it was scary as .....Sh*t. haha.

Cool shot thought. It's worth it to go there. If it was me, my knees would be shaking so hard.

I have done a lot of stupidly scary stuff before and I must say this is definitely up there. That slab of rock could have crumbled beneath my feet at anytime...but it didn't. Thank goodness. You must have been shitting yourself when you took this photo @jon24jon24 as I was shitting myself looking at you standing so close to the edge on the other end. LOL. #Don'tLetMomSeeThisPost

Hopefully mom wouldn't go on steemit. haha. Right now its hard for her to navigate so its gonna be later on that maybe she will see this? haha

Gorgeous pictures! Where did you stay on your trips? I imagine it would be fun to camp!

Thanks @bymelissaclaire :) I camped most of the times but also stayed at hostels, hotels, and at friends'

These pictures are amazing! You’ve seen heaven on earth. Love to go there someday!

Thanks @laurasusannah :) Do visit when you get a chance, you won't be disappointed!

It is so amazing that other people who come and visit the land down under have more experience traveling the country than people who actually live in it.

It would be nice to travel to those places that you have been to.

The only thing that get me is you guys prefer western australia? Hmmm I don't know about that I don't see much that worth seeing in WA... Maybe I'm missing something.

I have met so many amazing Aussies in my travels, heaps of them welcomed me into their homes and adventures. And a lot of them also say the same. I believe it is human nature to explore other places first before exploring their own/home because, well, it's home. It will always be there. At least that's what a lot of people I've met have said. As for me, I have explored my home state a lot when I was living there.

If you love the outdoors and nature, WA has got so much to offer. And I think that's why I love it there. But mostly due to the fact that it's so remote and not easily accessible. A lot of the places I visited in WA aren't as crowded as say Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. Definitely worth exploring :)

That first one looks like the spider walk in karijini?

I loved the spiderwalk @wakeupworldnews. I spent hours just relaxing in that pool at the end. This one was in Karijini but a different gorge, can't remember what it's called now. There's so many of them

Thank you for the warm welcome and for taking the time to visit my post @surpassinggoogle
Really appreciate it. Not entirely sure how this platform works as far as rewards goes but @jon24jon24 has been very helpful in trying to make me understand.
