Mosaic of the past or a new Greek Park in Odessa

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

  Hi friends!

How nice when in life there is something new and interesting! A New Greek Park was opened in South Palmyra on September 2. It is located next to Istanbul Park. Now the Potemkin stairs are surrounded by beautiful parks for recreation of Odessa citizens and guests of the city. And our Duke with an elevated position supervises...

Only the first small part of the Park has been opened so far. The Greek Park is positioned as an open-air Museum. The project is very beautiful and unique in its kind

Everyone knows that Odessa is a very multinational city. Huge contribution at all times of the existence of South Palmyra made by the Greeks

On the Greek square is located the Greek Community. Also in Odessa there is a Greek street. For the full picture we really lacked the Greek Park!

Greek square in Odessa

Entrance to Greek square and Deribasovskaya street with

The shopping center "Gallery Athena" and a monument to Marazli mayor

The Bolshaya Moskovskaya hotel with its end part overlooks the Greek square

When I was still at University, the Greek square was called Martynovskaya. There was a big transport hub. The city centre looked like a big garage:) for over 20 years now here in a totally different way. Pedestrian zone and many new buildings, monuments and fountains

Back to the Greek PAOK. You can plunge into the history of our city.

Istrian harbour is an ancient Greek city that existed in the 4-3 century BC. The remains of the ancient city were found in South Palmyra near the Vorontsov Palace. Just think about it-26 centuries ago in Odessa there were initial signs of urban culture. And they belonged to the Greeks

It is worth remembering that the street Gogol, 23 once housed the newspaper, which was published in Greek. Now in Odessa operates a modern Greek library, which has about 8,000 books, magazines, Newspapers, etc. in Greek

The first part of The Greek Park has its own concept - the "Golden age", the rise of Greek culture. The first part of the Park will represent harmony, space, order. But still in the making... The creators of the project will present three zones of the Greek Park

The Creator of the magnificent fountain "the Beginning of the beginning "or" Connection of times " Michael Reva personified the spirit of man, which became the basis of Greek culture. The intertwined olive tree on the fountain is a symbol of Greece. Two faces look at the past and the future at the same time

Everyone is happy to consider an unusual sculptural composition. Get acquainted deeper with the history of Greek culture and art. Such a plan parks already motivate to get new knowledge

The two faces of the fountain - a man and a woman

Long considering the fountain, I could not understand where the woman's face, and where the men:)) Well, not the essence, the work of Reva I really liked!

Scheme of the old part of Odessa with new parks

Dendrologists still carefully studying the plants will take root. The result was a research Institute in the open air at the seaside Boulevard. Experts want to plant plants that will be associated with Greece. Soon we will see their works.

Also, experts are very intriguing with the lighting of the Park. There will be something that is not yet on the territory of the post-Soviet space. I can't wait to see it all...

View of the Odessa marine station from the observation deck of the Greek Park

The initial part of the Park is already impressive for its globalism in the Odessa sense:)

Statues of ancient Greek bark (copies). The originals are in the national Museum in Athens

Memorial sign, which is installed at the Vorontsov Palace. It was here that archaeologists discovered (1996-2008) the first settlements of Greek colonists of the 6th century BC

Who gave such a charming Park South Palmyra? After all, earlier there was a completely wild nature abandoned by man, as in the Istanbul Park. Greek patron Bomboras Pantaleon V. fully on their own funds is building a Greek Park. In Odessa, this man is known for his good deeds in different directions of development

Our Duke is on the seaside Boulevard. To the left look-Greek Park, to the right-Istanbul Park. If the right - unchanged Potemkin stairs. But if you turn completely-see Catherine square and the monument to the Empress
