Amazing Church with Amazing History!
The Neo-Gothic Votive Church (Votivkirche) in Vienna was built in 1879 year and the history of its creation is very special.
In 1853 after the attempted assassination of Emperor Franz Joseph his brother decided to build a church to glory of God and organized both campaign of collection the resources and competition among architects.
Architect Heinrich von Ferstel has won this competition and to the date of silver anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth the Votive Сhurch was opened.
Also I would like to underline that about 300 thousand people granted the money for creation of this Church and the color of this Church is the main color of Vienna – the color of baked milk.

Who wants to kill Emperor Franz Joseph?
Tailor-apprentice Janos Liebeni, a former hussar from Vienna, has tried to kill Austrian Emperor Franz Josef by a dagger. The causes of this attack are not clear for now. Among assumptions there are both political and personal causes.
